I was in for the four initial issues, but with a proof finish and a $3300 + price tag I’m not in. I spent a wad on Morgan’s, Peace dollars, and all variety of ASE’s and AGE’s this year. It’s my time to back off

The market closes @ 5 PM ET, 11 AM my time

I will post info M-F, in the square below in the future. This is to show the bigger graphic displayed on the Kitco Pallidum page.

  • KudbegudKudbegud Posts: 4,735 ✭✭✭✭✭

For comparison. The 2020 Palladium is still on sale and following the PM pricing grid. So the 2021 version should be about the same.

  • KudbegudKudbegud Posts: 4,735 ✭✭✭✭✭

Sorry, I broke my pledge already. I will remember tomorrow.

Palladium is too volatile for me to even consider this.

In 24 hours the Mint should Lower the price of Palladium offering either 5 tiers or 6 tiers.

    Either $3,000.00 or $3,050.00

The Mint has never had a 5 or 6 tier price adjustment since they started the new system of pricing Gold, Platinum or Palladium...

  • cagcrispcagcrisp Posts: 1,063 ✭✭✭✭✭

Sometime this afternoon the Mint will price the Current Palladium coins at $3,050.00.

    I wouldn't get too excited.

Currently pricing would indicate a 1 tier or 2 tier price Increase for next weeks Launch...

Palladium coins have been Repriced to $3,050.00...

Caught the price today just after the close

The United States Mint Grid pricing for Palladium coins will go Up $250.00 on Sept 1, 2021.
This is Different from the weekly changes in pricing due to fluctuations in LBMA Palladium prices.
This is a permanent Grid pricing move Up.
SO...Whatever you think you will pay September, 2, 2021, it just went Up $250.00...

This might be game over for Mint palladium for me. It was already expensive and palladium hit $2,600 asking today for a short while. So is the 2021 likely to be $3,400+/-?

The other ones for sale from 2019 and 2020 are $3,050 right now before the price increases mentioned.

Sorry. I closed my eyes for just a second and.....you know the rest. So below is for 6:11 PM ET

    :o That's all I can say. :o

  • cagcrispcagcrisp Posts: 1,063 ✭✭✭✭✭

I would say there is an 85% chance Palladium price will be changed to $3,350.00 for Thursday Launch…

  • GoldminersGoldminers Posts: 4,402 ✭✭✭✭✭

That $250 price increase a day before they sell these, really hurt and should have crushed demand.

I just can't see this being flipped and wonder how many will try. This should have been a much lower mintage to justify that price increase. If this sells out even after a couple weeks I will really be surprised.

  • pcgscacgoldpcgscacgold Posts: 3,732 ✭✭✭✭✭

Wow, I never knew the premium on Palladium was that high. Selling $2,500 per oz today and the guess is $3,350 per oz for the sale price. That is a hefty mark up.

  • MsMorrisineMsMorrisine Posts: 38,654 ✭✭✭✭✭

palladium trading is a thin market

it is likely the mint cannot hedge. we are paying the price.

I'd like to know how the mint handles the purchase and sale of palladium. it's got to be hair raising to do.

  • MilesWaitsMilesWaits Posts: 5,557 ✭✭✭✭✭

Yes, you will really want to have this issue and gamble on the price of palladium to make it work for you short or long-term. The salad years in Pd Eagles were 2017 and 2018. Glad I was around.
The love of the flip would be insanity.

Now riding the swell in PM's and surf.
  • MsMorrisineMsMorrisine Posts: 38,654 ✭✭✭✭✭

their mintage limit on this is too high. it might sell through, but I'd also expect the same aftermath as the 2020 issue if it does sell through.

The Mint leases Palladium for between 1% and 9% of asset value to protect against market fluctuations.

In FY2020 the Mint paid $100k in leasing fees for Palladium…

  • cagcrispcagcrisp Posts: 1,063 ✭✭✭✭✭

$3,350.00 has been posted for all the Palladium coins. (2021 you have to dig down to get the $3,350.00)...

  • GoldminersGoldminers Posts: 4,402 ✭✭✭✭✭

    Mintage/Sales reported:

    2017 limit 15,000 sold 15,000
    2018 limit 15,000 sold 14,986
    2019 limit 30,000 sold 18,528 so far
    2020 limit 10,000 sold 9,384 so far
2021 mintage limit 12,000 and $3,350 price to start.

This series is losing interest because the price/premium is just too high now. How many years was this authorized?

  • pcgscacgoldpcgscacgold Posts: 3,732 ✭✭✭✭✭

I would love to have one but I am not paying that kind of premium over spot. I will have to enjoy this one in pictures only.

That is what I was afraid of. I think we have seen all 4 types of finishes already now? That seems like a good stopping point for me.

  • MilesWaitsMilesWaits Posts: 5,557 ✭✭✭✭✭

You would think so that four types, one cycle, would be enough but it is rinse and repeat so if you got in it for the first three years you did OK.

I've got the first four and bowing out for this one. That's a lot for a clamshell.

So the platinum eagle, with a face value of $100 is less than half the cost of the palladium eagle, with a face value of $25...

  • MilesWaitsMilesWaits Posts: 5,557 ✭✭✭✭✭

So do you plan on taking them to the bank and calling their bluff?!

This is actually the first time I am NOT buying one of these from the Mint. I just feel palladium will drop in price over time from here.

    Yes, I did it

I was making an easy prediction

but thinking about it, perhaps 72 days is just as easy.

Based on the 2020, that is certainly possible. Palladium has a terrible looking technical chart and fundamentals going forward, and this premium is just too high.

In this case, these double negatives don't make a right.

  • MsMorrisineMsMorrisine Posts: 38,654 ✭✭✭✭✭

based on the 2020 they should have NEVER MINTED MORE on these

at 5,000 or 6,000 maybe they eventually sell out.

as it is with the 2021, you're going to have a high premium numismatic product that will trade with bullion eventually. A rare prediction from me.

Or, perhaps they only sell 5,000 to 6,000 before taking them off sale in the future and they retain some numismatic value.
