In hand, it is. The slab shot was taken by Rick Snow when he applied the Eagle Eye Photo Seal, and it looks exactly like the coin in hand, capturing the true luster. Unfortunately, the photos from the auction house and PCGS do not capture the luster on the coin in hand. Here's the reverse photo from the auction house:

What an amazing coin. The luster looks gorgeous. Thanks for posting it!

Thanks for your kind words. With no criticism of our host, since they take over 1,000 photos a day, at times True Views don't capture the luster of the coin in hand. Tough to do with a two dimensional photo, especially with limited time. Unfortunately, this True View shown above in your reply, while showing wonderful detail, misses on the luster.

@winesteven.... Wow... that is an amazing Flying Eagle cent..... I am truly impressed with that one. If I saw that at a show, I would likely be mesmerized for an hour, just holding it and studying the detail. Cheers, RickO
Wow - some beauties - probably my favorite "series".
Not mine anymore, but sure enjoyed it when I owned it. MS65 OGH, wouldn't surprise me if it was a 66 currently.

My modest Flying Eagle. My Father found it in circulation and I sent it to our hosts years ago and will pass it on to my children.

OMG ... My Mother was Right about Everything!
I wake up with a Good Attitude Every Day. Then … Idiots Happen!
Flying eagle errors seem pretty rare. This is a poor man's example imo but I love it.
And an 1857 graded XF45 by our hosts.
Every FE I have in stock currently is either counterstamped or re-engraved as a different type of aerial display.
Is the Flying Eagle Cent the shortest lived series just minted for two years? I've gotta get one of these!
Don't forget the "tough to get" 1856 FE Cent.
Twenty Cent piece Business strikes were struck only in 1875 and 1876. However, Proofs were struck in those two years, as well as in 1877 and 1878.
But yes, you've "gotta get one of these" (Flying Eagle Cents)!

I have had this one for a little bit. A bit of a strike-thru on states. Other than that I love the strike.
Man, a couple more years in circulation that would have been a sweet PO-1!
My favorite coin from when I was a kid! Some beautiful and stunning examples along with errors. Enjoyed the thread!
@coinnut those looks like gold!
Super coins! 😺
Was one of my pride and joys....
Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.
Still RAW.

This one is a PR61:
PCGS was very harsh on the hairlines on this coin.

Received in change by my wife 25 years ago.
This the the example in my collection. Found in a flea market in Belgium in 1986.

I'm not a grading expert, but in today's world I think that's better than an XF40.
There's some truly gorgeous FE cents in this thread. It's one of the very best designs in the entire US series IMO.
I agree, I think it would be a 50 or 53 now.
Some amazing examples out there. The following is to die for :
My poor man's example. It's worn down (G-4 ?), but anyway, it's here
I didn't know these existed until last year! Had to buy a few.
Fatty vs. Skinny ...LOL
So damn beautiful..LOL!
Wow - some beauties - probably my favorite "series".

J187a - another coin I enjoyed for several years!
Posting for education and posterity...
J-205 ...a real treat and very rarely seen...any historical feedback is welcome!
...yes, what I post is in my collection.
This is currently in the chesterb collection. I love the die chip on the wing. There are also a few misplaced digits in the feathers around the neck.
