I'll loosely describe the thickker/taller rims and decreased diameter to to some assault on the coin all around the edge. perhaps someone with some time did use a spoon to tap all around the thing. perhaps something else beat it into submission.
it is a damaged dime.
if no one wants to take it as money the bank will redeem it.
