Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
I doubt little boys could make any headway with them!
I think it's time to get rid of the quarter.
The TV ads promoting a TV Reality Show starring Cardi B has her stating "............ you don't know me........"
She is correct.
I do not know her. She does not know me.
Hopefully it will stay that way
Agree completely Our first female VP Kamala would be wonderful. I'd also vote for Mrs. Obama but guess she's already getting one of those first spouse gold ones. God bless America!
The whole worlds off its rocker, buy Gold™.
I know. All of our most accomplished actresses from Mary Pickford to Kathryn Hepburn have been completely ignored.
Is it a state by state choice?
We have some depth on the bench.
BST: KindaNewish (3/21/21), WQuarterFreddie (3/30/21), Meltdown (4/6/21), DBSTrader2 (5/5/21) AKA- unclemonkey on Blow Out
Katherine Hepburn
Marilyn Monroe
Lucille Ball
Ella Fitzgerald
Florence Griffith Joyner
It's kinda sad how many LOL's I got for that suggestion.
Many here want a pretty actress on a coin.
This forum has a very long way to go.
It's kind of sad that you're serious. For one, she's still alive.
Another outdated law just like this stupid daylight savings time. Time to start evolving into the 21st century people. Forward!

One of two reasons why I objected to her.
Just stick with Lady Liberty and be done with it.
Yes, so then billionaires can buy their way onto coins. Corporations can buy advertising space on coins. All it takes is enough lobbying dollars.
There is a reason for the rules.
Are you conflating LOL’s with the now gone disagrees? Perhaps some were just giddy with joy at the prospect and therefore couldn’t suppress a laugh?
Since we know we will end up 1) with an ugly design, 2) with a real person and 3) a PC coin. why don't we just nominate Moms Mabley for the honor and get it over with.
Best suggestions so far in my humble opinion...
Dr. Mary Walker - Prisoner of war, surgeon and much more...

Amelia Earhart - If you don't know who she is you just didn't go to school at all lol.

Lucille Ball...how great would it be to have an entertaining coin?!
So many wonderful moments to choose from...the grape stomping fight, too much yeast...and of course these classics...

In no particular order, but also some women worthy of consideration, although I liked the OP list overall as a start, but Raquel must have had quite an influence.
Anne Sullivan/Hellen Keller
Mary Harris "Mother" Jones
Annie Oakley
Grandma Moses
Ayn Rand
Ella Fitzgerald
Pocahontas

At this point in time nobody even knows what a quarter is supposed to look like. I'm shocked there's not loads of counterfeits circulating. Maybe there is.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
They would only be able to fit her on the 5oz ATB coin!!
all posts have been rejected by the committee.
each post must nominate 56 women.
proceed.
It was always a "mind" game.

Baby Doe Tabor.
Narcissa Whitman.
Baby Doe Tabor.
Look it up.
No interest at all in these issues. Pass!
Mary Ludwig Hays McCauley.... "Molly Pitcher"
A heroine in the Revolutionary War. Carried water to American soldiers during the Battle of Monmouth during the American Revolution 1778, then took over for her husband on the battlefield when he was no longer able to fight.
A soldier who witnessed her in action wrote about in his diary, without referring to the woman involved by name: “While in the act of reaching a cartridge and having one of her feet as far before the other as she could step, a cannon shot from the enemy passed directly between her legs without doing any other damage than carrying away all the lower part of her petticoat.”
It's believed she said something like, “Well, that could have been worse,” then returned to firing her cannon.

Since we're living in a "PC" world, how about Bruce Jenner, AKA, Caitlyn Jenner
Grace Hopper
Keeper of the VAM Catalog • Professional Coin Imaging • Prime Number Set • World Coins in Early America • British Trade Dollars
She is still alive as well. If they do honor Justice O'Connor, I hope they spell her last name correctly.
Pacific Northwest Numismatic Association
I was waiting for that one to come up.
She was a great American who risked everything to help others.
They are still considering her for the $20 bill:
@Zoins If Harriet Tubman ever makes it onto the $20 bill, she won't be shown holding a gun even though many contemporary pics of her showing her holding a gun.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
Guns are too sensitive now, but its an important part of history and those times.
Here's an article on her history which includes her slave name Minty Ross.

Nothing PC about it. She's alive, however, and ineligible. But she is the only U.S. woman to win a decathalon.
There can always be another coin like the Nolan Ryan Dollar
Why not LIBERTY. She has been the best since coinage started in America.

Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.
Not enough support or interest. Congressman Andy Barr put together a bill in 2013 for the House of Representatives but there was not enough support from constituents or legislators.

Exactly putting a living VP on the coin is 1. Too much like a monarchy
2. Too controversial considering about 1/2 the country dislikes her.
Even worse, she's not even retired.
I mean, if you put George W. Bush on a coin, at least he's not potentially running for something. What is the value to a candidate to have an actual circulating coin with your image on it?
This would be terrific.
By that logic, why not the Hugh Hefner series?
Either one beats the harris suggestion by a mile.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
Best answer yet!
She has been personified in so many forms since the start of US coinage.
EXACTLY.
Why not use LIBERTY for the photo and place IHO(In Honor Of) somebody on the reverse.
