I can relate - especially on a stretch bid for rare plastic. :D

I've been on too much of a roll lately. I saw a bunch of really nice exonumia come up, not many other players - at first.

Then the bidding heats up. Gotta use the ole sniper software because the ending times are too close together on too many items, and at inconvenient times too . . . . .

You place a bid that is just shy of a nuclear bid, hoping not to win ALL of them. Then you find and add a few more. You figure you might only win 1 or 3 out of the 8 or 9 items you are interested in. Then the bidding nickel and dimes right up to your maximums on all 8 or 9 auctions.

You were hoping only to win 1 or 4, but now you're too close to the edge of the cliff, with less than an hour to go. Then your phone starts going nuts . . . . . . . . .

Win some, lose some... I never lost one I really wanted, because my nuclear snipe bids were literally beyond reason. I did overpay for a few though... I really have not bought much in the last year or so... Cheers, RickO

Potentially, when no one knows how much the coins you bought or are trying to buy are actually worth.

This applies to practically every thing I have bought for years now. Usually no comparable public sale available at all.

You buy stuff to break into lots.

And they are still waiting next to my desk 6 months later.

AND THEN, DANIEL CARR PUT NEW STUFF ON HIS SITE THE NEXT DAY . . . . . . !!!

I have no chance. Still got half a dozen snipes all ticking down. At least I backed away from my "near nuclear" bid levels . . . . .

I cannot tolerate another night of stress like that.

When the bank calls and asks if you want an increase on your credit line. 😳

Q: When does a collector become a numismatist?

A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.

A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.

It when Ebay tells you that you have too many items ON your watch list. You have to remove some to add the new stuff.

There is a maximum amount of items you can watch. It's usually set at 100 but for "special characters" they'll raise it to 400.

    I've maxed out on both . . . .

I've got another six snipes lined up to end over the next two hours.

Let's see how much poorer I am in the AM.

Last week was a good one for me. I only purchased 2 coins both under the $100.00 mark.
    I was in control. B)
This week could be an out of control week as I have several coins that I am watching on GC.
When I get their invoice's final tally, it will tell me how much or not how much I was out of control.
