Circulated LARGE Cent Thread (No MS!)

It’s just weird and unnatural to see bright red old copper coins. So....here’s a thread to show those old brown large cents that need no apologies and offer no excuses. Let this 1852 set the theme......

Great color on these!

Bought this one in 2010 at a HA auction. Sent it to CAC and got the green bean. I looked for a couple of years for one to catch my eye and this one did. I like the color of it. I sure wish she could talk....
I bought this one at about age 12 with lawn mowing money. I’m pretty sure it was $27.50, that would be around 1966

No MS!! Then this must not be part of the Lowball Registry. Great looking bunch of Large Cents here.
Lafayette Grading Set
@ambro51 I've got nothing to show for my lawn mowing money, but in my later years I've managed to snag a few large cents:

Not MS but a little higher grade.

Late and middle date circulated Large Cents are historical coins which aren't expensive, unless you're looking for key dates.
This is circulated, and is not MS. AU58BN, w/CAC:

Some well worn and circulated large cents from my collection:
Some beautiful old cents here... I do like the chocolate look of these coins... They were heavily used in their day, and I am sure passed through many, many hands, pockets and purses. I shall have to get mine out, I have a couple... all raw I believe. Cheers, RickO

I love those die bounce large cents!
Even though not an error or die variety, I did pay a premium for the coolness factor.
An early memory of mine was visiting the Vineland NJ Historical Society’s Building. They had, behind glass, a large display board with a full date run of large cents, held on the old fashioned way, with 4 pins! The first time I actually held one was at Mr Reich’s grocery store. He kept two of them in his cash register drawer (!) it was actually kind of a trick my Mom played on me “Behave good and don’t beg for things and I’ll ask Mr. Reich to show you the coins”. Yup, worked good on 7 year old me!
My one and only large cent.
The last coin my father bought for me as a gift. It was offered at a flea market when he used to go to participate in "country auctions."
I have long had a soft spot for 1798 cents because it is the most affordable date minted prior to 1800. This one is graded AU-53.

@lkeigwin - that 1824 is the cleanest 1824 I've seen in a long time and your 1819 is also very nice!
@ElmerFusterpuck & @Walkerguy21D - your 1834 die bounce cents are pretty cool.
I knew it would happen.
Agree, very nice example! I feel the 1824 is under rated in upper circ grades.
The mintage of 1.3 mil also includes both 1823 and '23/2 varieties, and the 1824/2 major variety. I have a few of these put away - to prevent the hoarders from getting them....
I've got one. Was identified as a 1920/19 N-3 R-2.
