I've always had this question in the back of my mind---can I be considered a customer of PCGS if I buy their product but never submit myself?
Nope, a customer provides direct revenue. People who don’t submit but buy are more like buyers of books at a used bookstore. PCGS is indirectly helped because the market for their product remains stronger but it’s not a direct benefit to them.
I suppose the real questions are... Would the time I spent figuring out an answer that passes the straight face test be worth the effort or have any impact on numismatics in general?
I have been a decent PCGS customer for decades and have no plans to change
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
I calculated out how many I have submitted, it was more than I thought. However, looking back over some orders for nostalgia, there are random True View images in some orders that I certainly didn't pay for (one was a modern in 69). I wonder if someone resubmitted to get a true view or PCGS took "samples" of coins along the way for their own purposes.
Someone with the requisite mental abilities should calculate how large of a physical space (i.e. a warehouse) would be required to store 45 million PCGS slabs.
Imagine if all 45 million of these slabbed coins were in the same storage facility and 100 lucky collectors were given 1 hour in the facility to go on a treasure hunt (where they could pick out and keep any 100 coins that they choose).
Put the treasure hunt on live streaming video for other hobby participants (and the general public) to watch. That would provide some entertainment (at least to those in the hobby).
I know, I know....... I simply have too much free time on my hands today to come up with this scenario

Less than one million.
Probably a few hundred by now.
2.2̅ × 10⁻⁸
I've got almost half that fraction of them myself.
I haven’t kept track but if I was to guess... maybe 100-150 lifetime. And probably 20 to NGC lifetime.

A very immaterial amount.

Probably around 150.
I'm sorry sir but that information is classified. Suggest you submit a FOIA request.

probably around 300-400 or so at most
Zero and counting!
Zero. I buy PCGS slabbed coins all the time but I keep raw coins that I buy raw.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

Last time that I added this up was 2013.
At that time is was 5,255 coins.
Someday I will bring the tally up-to-date.
Quick.

Ten or fifteen
"Seu cabra da peste,
"Sou Mangueira......."
Hmmm ... not sure ... nowhere near @GRANDAM that's for sure
Back in the old, old days (89 - 92) I think I submitted about 30 to 40? through a dealer friend
Then in the somewhat old days (96 - 00) another 15 to 20? through a different dealer friend
Then in the kind of old days (05-12) maybe 50? directly as a Club Member
Nothing since I've been back this year, but I may take it up again ...

I think I had a similar post on number of coins submitted, Probably around 2013 if anyone can find it?
