What's your dream card?

If you could have any one card, what would it be? Not necessarily the most valuable. Just the one you would want most.

For me:

    When I was a kid I didn't believe the 1968 Topps 3d Clemente existed.

I would want a 2000 contenders Brady. Unfortunately, I have some cards I could sell to make it happen, but I am not interested in Paying that much money to uncle sam after the sales for what would essentially be a trade.

At this point, with the value of the Brady, I would have to be able to work out a trade as opposed to raising funds.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

Centered PSA 8 1968 Ryan RC. I'm buying one as soon as I sell all of my modern shiny cards

1965 Topps Joe Namath. Had a chance at quite a few over the years and never pulled the trigger.
One a very few regrets about this hobby.

2dueces, I have a PSA 4 (for a very reasonable price) and a BVG 5.5 for sale right now, if you're interested!

george brett psa 9 1975 topps or 1982 topps traded cal ripken jr.

  • Star Jordan 101. That card might as well have been a unicorn when I was collecting in the early 90s. I’ve never sold cards before but I plan on unloading a lot in 2021 to consolidate my collection and raise enough funds to justify to my wife (and myself) why I am spending 10k on a basketball card.

A well centered, un-tilted PSA 9 or 10 of the 1973 All Time Home Run Leaders card. I won’t include good back centering, as that does not exist.

  • This is not a card I own, but there sure is something special to me about it.. Great card from a great era and set...

  • I think my favorite RC is probably the 1960 Carl Yastrzemski. I'd love to get it in a psa 9 or 10 but, of course, money. A couple 9's sold on EBay recently for almost $20k. Yaz was my first baseball hero when I was a kid at the end of his playing career.

Mine too! And my dad was 16 during the Impossible Dream, so I got to hear all about that. Yaz is my favorite player and my main PC.

When I started collecting cards in 1959 , it seemed every pack had a Wayne Terwilliger. I thought each pack contained a piece of gum and a Wayne Terwilliger. In 1960 it was this Carl yazsomethingorother. I couldn't pronounce his name, didn't know who he was , or played for, and did not like any of the Rookie cards. Had about 20 Yazsis. Threw them all away. Knowledge stops somewhere, but stupid goes on forever. Now I have many $15 Terwilligers and only One Psa 6 Yaz. Oh, the cards we didn't keep or buy.

I remember this topic on cu years ago... I said it was the 33 goudey ruth #181 pop 1 psa 10 that sold for $40k. Might be worth a little more now.

I have mine already, purchased in 1990. Ryan Rookie 1 ea. Bird/Erving/Johnson 2 ea. Had to choose between the Ryan rookie or the Aaron Rookie, went with the Express. Picked up a 69 Topps Mantle for 5 bucks in the same transaction. Life is good.

PSA graded 1979 Topps Baseball Cello pack with the Bump Wills error on top. Reminds me of my first year collecting. I've only ever seen one, but missed it.

Previous transactions: Wondercoin, goldman86, dmarks, Type2

1958 Topps Mantle Psa 6 or better and well centered

Would love to have a '66 Topps Bobby Orr in PSA 9, but an 8 is more realistic as there's only one 9 I believe and it hasn't surfaced in years.

Probably stating the obvious, but 1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle. I came pretty close to doing it twice - engagement ring and home purchase were the actual expenditures, with no regret. I do not want it in 9 or 10 as value has (almost) nothing I do with it. I would be quite happy with a nearly crease free, well centered card with soft corners and a weak surface. Like 2-3-4 territory but with nice eye appeal. Even the SGC 1 that @mouschi has is just about perfect to me.

PS - Hey! I just found out even in my dreams, I am still a cheapskate. 😉😂

Something like this, to me, would be absolutely perfect:

I don’t care what flaws are found under a loupe that holds a card like this back from higher grade; and that’s not a comment on grading companies or high grade collectors, either. Everyone should collect the way that makes them happy and this is just about my perspective and how I like to collect.

Well it only took a month to make this post look stupid. 10k would probably only get me a pretty crappy looking 101 at this point. Guess I’ll keep dreaming.

Generally not a pre-war collector, but 1939 Play Ball 26 Joe DiMaggio PSA 5+ and centered.

  • The gold standard of modern cards. Been lusting after if for 20 years.
