Well, this one fell right in my lap thanks to my new friend! Thanks W!
...and honestly I never thought I could find an “O” mint gold cac since there are only 8 that exist, but it has come to pass !!!
Notice anything different about the continuity of the set lately???
Anyways, would love thought as always from the group on the set progression and also the new acquisition in the 1851-O $20 Lib OGH VF35 gold cac!

That is a great coin, congrats!

You seem to have all the mints covered except Denver and I don’t see any gold stickers on a Denver DE from the CAC pop reports. Nice 51-O.
Really nice gold on gold set.....Well done....all with a consistent appearance.....Cheers, RickO
I love your set @Leeroybrown
It's one of the highlights to see around here. Sometimes it seems certain coins find the deserving homes they belong in for a while. The way I see it, that 51-O seemed meant to be yours.
“We are only their care-takers,” he posed, “if we take good care of them, then centuries from now they may still be here … ”

Real nice gold coin!
*What are thoughts on the above picture???
I absolutely love the pickup and love the shots in the light that show off the luster peeking out beneath ancient crust. Fantastic set!
A great addition 👌
Congrats!!!
Love the new direction of your set.
Very nice pickup!
An amazing idea for a set!
I love watching this set come together!
I think this 51-o is my new favorite. The set is really coming along nicely keep it up. Just 9 more to go!
I think the 1851-O is my new favorite too, Crusty!
Great addition to your well-matched set! Congrats on your acquisition.
O-mint twenties are some of the most challenging coins in all of numismatics.

I had an 1850-O $20 that was in an XF40 CAC holder with crusty build-up in almost exact same location, see image below...
I have seen this crusty look most often on original double eagles from the 1850's. I have read auction descriptions in which the cataloger attributes the russet encrustation to immersion in sea water for many years (though I am not entirely convinced of this). CAC doesn't have a problem with this look.
Novice collectors will often try to "improve" the surfaces by scratching off the build-up, which leaves telltale signs of cleaning that can cost the collector thousands of dollars, as is the case with this 1859 $20 with AU details.
Absolutely, Bloodman... I love the crusty original pieces as well... just wreaks of originality to me!
Lovely coin indeed!
Liberty double eagles is the series of champions. One day I hope blood man post his set
