Yeah, I am pretty happy with this. I don't know what happened with my Nomar card. I obviously missed something significant!
Check for a crease that wasn't there when you sent it in, you seem to know what to look for and I would bet my left nut you didn't miss a PSA 5 card. If you find damage be sure to start a case within 5 days of receiving the package.
unless you took pictures before submitting, I can't see how he would have a leg to stand on in trying to prove PSA made the crease, no?
We have to try to do something, we can't just let it become normal for cards to be damaged. Taking the "hey, it's the new PSA, they have a lot of cards to grade and some will get butchered, oh well" mentality is going to lead to a much poorer experience with them in the long run. If they are a well managed company they will listen to their customer complaints and do something about it, but only if we all voice up and make sure they are hearing about every damaged card.
I agree, it's most likely a lost cause, I personally have 5 cards with them now for a QA review, but something has to be done. This was never an issue before the massive influx of cards. I certainly won't be scanning and taking multiple date stamped photos of bulk order cards, but that shouldn't discount my claims of damage. I'm not talking about slightly whited corners, I'm talking about visibly bent and dinged corners, large creases visible to the naked eye, edge dents, etc...
ps. inspect 9's and 10's as well, part of my QA return includes a Gem 10 with a bent corner.
I'll look at the PSA 5 when it comes back and see what kind of flaw it is. If it's something that there was no way I could have missed it, I will open a case with them.

I haven't seen PSA meaningfully discuss this issue. There must be so many cards that have been damaged by now, since this first started popping up as an issue last year. Prior to last year, PSA had never damaged a card of mine in their possession that I noticed. Now, it happens in basically every order coming back.

What's the timeline for orders stuck in assembly these days?

I had one hit assembly on Monday November 22 (Thanksgiving week) and it was in QA1 on Monday November 29, popped Thursday December 2. So assembly really didn’t take long considering they were probably off Thursday-Sunday. Not sure what kind of holiday schedule they have but even being way behind you still have to give your employees a break sometimes.
I have an order in QA2 that was in assembly for almost 3 weeks. Not sure there is any consistency. I have a subs that was entered a week later than this one and isn’t even in assembly yet.
Anyone know if they are answering phones these days? I may give them a "nudge" phone call. I know it doesn't do anything, but it may make me feel better.
Last I heard they were. There was a time when the queue filled up for the day pretty early in the morning, not sure if that is still a thing or not. Can't hurt to try.

I got the package back and looked at the card. There was a wrinkle that is hard to see on the bottom edge. Is it possible i missed it? Yes, I suppose it is possible...unlikely but possible. Not sure if I should proceed with the case. It honestly sounds like more aggravation than it is worth for a pretty low value card, even if it were a PSA 10.
@Cyberhawk_27 some great cards and some really grades on many of them. How are you feeling about the grades overall? Any of the HOF football rc’s available?

I'm a little disappointed but if I exclude the Jerry Rice (I believe they could have been 8 or even 9), I think the grades are fair.
About availability, everything is available as I'm not a card collector and I'm looking to sell my deceased fathers collection.

That's a crazy "bulk" order. How many upcharges did you get? Some of those hockey cards are over $3k CDN. Don't know much about the other sports...
I got around 200$ upcharge that I gladly paid. Since I sent a OPC Gretzky rookie that I thought value was 15k (so I paid the charge associated with it) and was graded much lower than I thought, I always thought about submitting at the lowest price and pay the upcharge.

some tough grades on those 86's. the middle one seems right in a 7 but the top and bottom look harsh. I think most cards made out of paper have those hairs at the tips on fresh cards if that is what they downgraded them for

I agree that the centering on the middle one is less than ideal but I'm really wondering If I should send the other 2 to Beckett (when lower tier grading will be open).

I think the corners on all 3 Rice cards are consistent with a grade of 7.

true for 2021 grading standards!!! not many colored paper cards are not going to show anything at high magnification. the bottom card I can almost agree. the top one, not really if the cards is fresh and the top 2 corners are what it's getting downgraded for. I just clicked through a bunch of psa 8 rices in vcp that look very similar to those 7's
@Cyberhawk_27 - message sent on the HOF rc's. Those 86's do look pretty nice. I think the white stripes that are cut off on the corners make them look worse than they actually are. I always have to loupe those a couple times to make sure I'm seeing it correctly and it is a notoriously tough set to get high grades on, at least on the star/rc cards.
Well these are the worst results I’ve ever had. it’s making me regret the other 800 cards I have sitting in PSA’s facilities. Me and my brother always sit down and grade our cards before we submit them and usually are within a grade of what they come back from PSA. I have several that are 3 grades lower than expected in this submission. That has never happened before. Wondering if some were damaged while at PSA. Very disappointed. These were sent in early December/late November and entered February 15th. About a year door to door which probably adds to my frustration.

I'm very happy with the results... no real surprises or disappointments. There was only one 7 and nothing lower, which I was fully expecting 6's after seeing everyone else's results.
I thought the Ripken would be a 7 so that's cool (pulled from the top of a resealed rack pack). Was hoping for better on the '93 Jeters but those can be tough. Ecstatic about the four Kobe 10s... those are really cool. This sub made a lot more sense FOURTEEN MONTHS AGO, but I'm still happy.
Glad yours turned out well. I’m still trying to figure out what happened to my sub. Not sure if the grader had too many beverages or if a batch of my cards were dropped before they got to him/her.
Yea. I am a collector and was hoping to upgrade my collection with this submission but missed by a mile. Most of these Will be up for sale. There are a few I may keep with sets and a few that I will add to my collection as fillers. What are you looking for? I was expecting 7’s or higher on all of the Payton cards so some of those may come back with new creases or other damage. No way I missed on that many.

The Hogan has only had ten graded and this Hogan is a pop 2 with none higher.
The Rock auto is known to have chipping so a 7 is pretty good. The Rock has no other signed/certed wrestling cards and makes decent money these days so signing in public just doesn't happen. :-)

@Cyberhawk_27 some great cards and some really grades on many of them. How are you feeling about the grades overall? Any of the HOF football rc’s available?
I'm a little disappointed but if I exclude the Jerry Rice (I believe they could have been 8 or even 9), I think the grades are fair.
About availability, everything is available as I'm not a card collector and I'm looking to sell my deceased fathers collection.
That's a crazy "bulk" order. How many upcharges did you get? Some of those hockey cards are over $3k CDN. Don't know much about the other sports...
Is Rice another of those cards that PSA refuses to give high grades to anymore?
I got around 200$ upcharge that I gladly paid. Since I sent a OPC Gretzky rookie that I thought value was 15k (so I paid the charge associated with it) and was graded much lower than I thought, I always thought about submitting at the lowest price and pay the upcharge.
I have a couple that should pop any day. I am thinking should be a 7(possible 8) and an 8(possible 9). I could see them both coming back as 7’s which would be disappointing. I have several example of this card in different grades but I know how stingy they are on the 86 set.
I thought there were no more qualifiers???? both of those orders are filled with every qualifier under the sun. Did PSA change back the policy and I didn't see the memo? Thanks

some tough grades on those 86's. the middle one seems right in a 7 but the top and bottom look harsh. I think most cards made out of paper have those hairs at the tips on fresh cards if that is what they downgraded them for
I think the 7s are accurate on those Rice's. The corners have visible flaws. Great cards anyway!
I agree that the centering on the middle one is less than ideal but I'm really wondering If I should send the other 2 to Beckett (when lower tier grading will be open).
I think the corners on all 3 Rice cards are consistent with a grade of 7.

true for 2021 grading standards!!! not many colored paper cards are not going to show anything at high magnification. the bottom card I can almost agree. the top one, not really if the cards is fresh and the top 2 corners are what it's getting downgraded for. I just clicked through a bunch of psa 8 rices in vcp that look very similar to those 7's
Would love to see the 74 orr psa 8, and the 80 Messier and Gretz 9’s. Some huge cards in that sub congrats.
@Cyberhawk_27 - message sent on the HOF rc's. Those 86's do look pretty nice. I think the white stripes that are cut off on the corners make them look worse than they actually are. I always have to loupe those a couple times to make sure I'm seeing it correctly and it is a notoriously tough set to get high grades on, at least on the star/rc cards.
Well these are the worst results I’ve ever had. it’s making me regret the other 800 cards I have sitting in PSA’s facilities. Me and my brother always sit down and grade our cards before we submit them and usually are within a grade of what they come back from PSA. I have several that are 3 grades lower than expected in this submission. That has never happened before. Wondering if some were damaged while at PSA. Very disappointed. These were sent in early December/late November and entered February 15th. About a year door to door which probably adds to my frustration.

I'm very happy with the results... no real surprises or disappointments. There was only one 7 and nothing lower, which I was fully expecting 6's after seeing everyone else's results.
I thought the Ripken would be a 7 so that's cool (pulled from the top of a resealed rack pack). Was hoping for better on the '93 Jeters but those can be tough. Ecstatic about the four Kobe 10s... those are really cool. This sub made a lot more sense FOURTEEN MONTHS AGO, but I'm still happy.
Glad yours turned out well. I’m still trying to figure out what happened to my sub. Not sure if the grader had too many beverages or if a batch of my cards were dropped before they got to him/her.
@shawther - are any of the rookies from your sub available?
Yea. I am a collector and was hoping to upgrade my collection with this submission but missed by a mile. Most of these Will be up for sale. There are a few I may keep with sets and a few that I will add to my collection as fillers. What are you looking for? I was expecting 7’s or higher on all of the Payton cards so some of those may come back with new creases or other damage. No way I missed on that many.

The Hogan has only had ten graded and this Hogan is a pop 2 with none higher.
The Rock auto is known to have chipping so a 7 is pretty good. The Rock has no other signed/certed wrestling cards and makes decent money these days so signing in public just doesn't happen. :-)
