Thoughts on this $5 Gold Indian

A recent purchase of mine for my type set. I don't see any evidence of tooling and the details appear sharp.
I'm thinking about sending it to our host and would appreciate comments on authenticity and grade by others more experienced with this series.

    Based on the pictures, MS 63.
    So maybe worth submitting.

    These are difficult to grade. It's a nice coin with no significant distracting marks. Problem for me is that it appears to have lost the original skin. I don't know if this constitutes "cleaning" or how it would affect grade. I'll go with the consensus 63.

    Very seldom are gold coins that shade of orange-gold, so my guess is that it looks different in-hand. If so, obviously, I have no idea whether it looks better or worse.

    Wow a really nice super eye appeal BU beauty. Send it in for sure. As to numerical grade I leave that to our hosts. Love it’s luster and color.

    That's really orange, but I assume it is the lighting that you (or someone else) has used to get the image. Send it in and see what happens.

    It looks like it has a shot as MS-64 to me.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
