In the words of Robert Heinlein in one of my favorite sci-fi books:

"An interesting philosophy."
"Not philosophy, fact. One way or other, what you get, you pay for."
I don't know who that Heinlein character is, but that quote sounds like something that a stranger in a strange land might say.

This thread has all the ingredients of a tasty word salad, especially from the first post. Now where did I leave the bacon bits? I'm sure some will come along soon.

I'll go with Q David Bowers: "By far the best returns have been made by those who have carefully built collections, and who have held them for the long term" Seems like sage advice to me.

While that might be correct, it sounds like it pertains to collecting. The OP appeared to be talking about something very different from collecting.

I just crushed my competition sitting on the back porch reading all of this!😎
Those "new" mosquitoes suck
ya, the ones with the little white stripes are not native to our area, but just showed up in the last few years. Sneaky little bastards. The go in low.
I just called the city about my neighbors "green pool"
Errors-I agree. New breed & they are daylight biters. So when I'm around outside in the shade I take a squeeze bottle of isopropyl alcohol-put a pin hole in the foil seal & spray a 3ft circle around my feet. Or on my shoes or lower pants. As it evaporates the skeeters go elsewhere. Heathier than DEET. Redo ever half hour or so. Skeeters hate alcohol.

I am going to try this! Will report back on success or failure
Well, I read about half the replies. I'm glad most of you decided to waste my time after I spent so long composing this. Further, I understand this is blind leading the blind. I am not a coin dealer. I'm probably the last person to give advice. But I'm tired of seeing people ask these questions in coin forums and get berated by self centered boomers.
The point is, markets sometimes exist wherein you can do whatever TF you want. This is one of those times and one of those markets that you can do it. Those are some of the things you can do during this type of market to max your gains. And yes, this isnt great during normal times, and is exactly why I said it likely isn't good for normal times.
I have never met a group of people so willing to work against their best interests. This hobby was dying and was where stamps were in 08. We have all been so incredibly lucky to have a massive influx of people to drag coin collecting out of its grave. Even if this half worked to a fraction of a % we would all benefit. I'm... speechless to have people in a dying hobby brought back to life by freak chance, not willing to have a half decent discussion.
Anyway, I was gonna delete this post, but I never wrote it for most of the people responding. I wrote it for the people who use Google for questions because snarky egotistical self-important narcissistic boomers waste their time. (I do not mean this to flame or troll anyone here specifically; there is no denying the one stereotype that exists in this hobby.. which is a stereotype for a reason).
Instead, I'm leaving the post. I made it because I'm tired of seeing new people struggling and making threads of "not making money" and "are coins REALLY selling well again?" and whatever else. They get answers in their threads similar to the posts I got here. There are people struggling to make profits at a time like this, and they shouldn't be.
This is all very sound advice. It's a long post. I know, I wrote it. I'm laying in bed right now with a jewelry tray full of free gold I got while making plenty of mistakes. I can't imagine how awesome this would have been if I was doing it right from the beginning, or knew more, or used even half the things I wrote out.
I wish someone wrote something like this for me a few years ago.
I guess I know what I'm gonna do next time I wanna help like this again... sit here next to my pile of free gold and laugh, instead.

You sound rather angry. When you make a post, you shouldn't be surprised when some disagree with you.

As "out there" as Heinlein's books got towards the end, it's a brilliant body of SF work. Have read them all, some multiple times.
