...and I was gonna sell it for a quick $20, but sold a badly cleaned CBH and got to keep this. I carried it with me for awhile as we started building our businesses. Told myself I'd get it graded one day if our hard work ever paid off, if I ever made anything of myself.
Here she is. Didnt think I'd be getting emotional over a penny at 40, but hey, whatever at least it is happiness this time.
Thank you, PCGS. Stay classy.

I like me a streaker.
I likem as much as I love using "penny" on coin forums, because even if I dont see it, I know its driving someone wild.
That's pretty cool looking. Great history too!
Very sharp looking cent.
Did you have them give it a title? I saw another guy had an engraved coin titled “Dad’s Dollar” or something along those lines by PCGS.
Neat story on the coin and congrats on the success of your business. Looks like you’re going to turn out after all!
Beautiful.
Nice example of wood grain toning.

I like the story and that sort of message attached to a coin makes it special. It becomes a symbol of your success, drive and character. Cheers, RickO
Great symbol of success

That coin has been with you through some challenging times. Very appropriate that you have gotten it slabbed. Thanks for sharing the story. And BTW... I do like the toning!
Great story. Life gets easier as we learn......Life.

Funny how sometimes the road right before the turn is the hardest.
Great story! Whatever the grade, it's a MS70 to you, with a perfect wood-grain finish, and the little streaker that lives inside all of us.

That’s a distinctive looking cent! I like it and the story of your ownership.

Me too!
Nice.
People don't usually carry around a cent for a pocket piece, as small coins tend to get lost quickly.
Glad yours made it through the tough times

The coin looks quite nice so I assume it was in some kind of holder while you were carrying it.

Nice coin and great story .
Great story. And now the OP is buying nickels and dimes.
I like the streaking! I thought I had something similar in my 1936 1C and it came back N1BN. Oh well.
Most of us have gone through a rough patch or two. Glad you fought through it and didn't have to get rid of everything.

Great story. I am about to send a 1973-S dime in for grading. Similar story for me. I bought it at a coinshop in the 80s along with a quarter that I eventually had to spend during a hard times Thanks for sharing.
Thats a great story, and im glad to hear that you were able to climb up the ladder. Im still working my way up, but always inspired to see others do the same as well, it gives me great hope.
I've always had a 'thing' for that issue. As a kid, in the early 60's, that's the one I had to buy from Littleton to finish my number 2 Lincoln book.
