Wrestling Card Sales Tracker Thread

I am starting a thread to be able to chronicle some of the higher priced sales of wrestling cards. I will be updating them as I see them and if you see something that you feel should be highlighted please share it.
I am kicking the thread off if with recent sales from the past 24 hours.
The first is a monster sale of the 1987 OPC Bret Hart Pop 1 rookie by board member Knapp. $2,300 for this beauty.
The second is this BGS 8.5 1982 Wrestling All Stars Ric Flair. I have to chuckle at the 10 for centering sub grade but nothing funny about the $1,600 sales price.
The third is this PSA 2 1982 Wrestling All Stars Hulk Hogan at $900.

I think I paid $350 for it a few years back.

Didn't expect to update the thread so quickly. Nice $1,100 sale on this Hogan PSA 5.

I just started collecting WWF cards 2 years ago... I am primarily a MMA/UFC collector. I have watched cards I wanted go from affordable to WTF.... crazy watching the market climb. Cant imagine for the long term collectors how this feels (finally!)
It is fun to watch.
I had a chance to buy the card Knapp bought from the first owner for $119.99 years ago. I was subbing some and thought I would try and get one on my own.
What is going to make it tough is that unopened product is becoming harder to find and more expensive and more cost prohibitive to open. Tom at OPC Baseball sold a 1985 WWF Series 1 OPC box recently for $1,900. That is a very tough price to pay to rip and sub.
Another huge issues is a lot of the cards are legitimately tough in high grade and finding loose singles that will grade super high is very challenging.
I am finding many parallels with the 1980 wwf cards and the first mma/ufc cards that released in the 2000s.... hoping my mma investment will pay off in 20 years (lol).
The Psa 7 81 Hogan Popy I just sold went for 2200. Prob would go for more now and that was just a month ago.

Not high end, but been unloading a fair amount of '91 impel Flair 9s for $18 each. Wanted to get the 9s outta the way and establish a floor before listing the 10s. As anyone knows, these are very easy cards to grade, not that rare at all but very encouraging how quickly they are moving. Thinking the gems should do $50 when the rest of the 9s are gone.
Thanks guys for adding all of the comments.
This BGS 7.5 1982 Wrestling All Stars Ric Flair just went for a grand with the shipping.

Any sales more than a few months old at this rate may not be reflective of what it would bring today. It's hot right now.

@wrestlingcardking
No doubt. This card of The Rock is scorching hot. PSA went for $455

I would love to see someone list a Flair 9 and see where the market is on one. Just took this pic today of a six pack of the Nature Boy!
Nice try!
Try on what?
He's making you work for it
Bob’s PSA 10 ended up in Gary Vee’s collection.
The guy who bought it through PWCC flipped it to him recently.
It was a beautiful thing when he showed it on Twitter.
I see you subliminally trying to get me to put up a 9! 😉
1988 nwa superstars wonderama #239 arn anderson psa 8.5 @ $70.
you want stuff like this in here dpeck? or just $500+, $1000+ sales?
1987 Wonderama Test Sting sold for a little over 200. Used to be able to get this card for about 10 bucks from a random wrestling card website. Forgot the name of the site but he would ship out of Alaska
https://www.ebay.com/itm/353108197164
Indeed. Along with a stellar Hogan. Some Gleybs, Berra and random vintage. A mountain of Soto on several different occasions.
Can't wine or complain at all. It's not bad being under the influence(r). 😉
I do miss that Hogan though. It had history. Oh well. Nothing wrong with setting records.
Yeah.
Most cards are not four figures.
That $70 sale might have been $10 or $15 a year ago.
Definitely not 4 figures. But he was a 4 horsemen! 😉
I was happy about that one, for sure! But just wanted to make sure and not flood the thread...
I totally read “four figures” and saw “four fingers” as related to Double A.
Haha
I was just telling Rob last night what is so interesting is with a Pop of 40 that no one is rushing out to sell into this frenzy.
The overall supply of these cards is so low in the bigger picture that it doesn't take much new interest to get them moving. PSA has 168 Nature Boy's and as stated above 40 are PSA 9's. On the opposite end the spectrum PSA has graded 19,462 86 Fleer Jordan's with 2,728 in a PSA 9 Mint grade. Naturally there is more demand for the Jordan but there is a massive supply and demand imbalance and so prices in my view are going to stay up and probably continue higher.
I say lets flood the thread.
In many cases I would bump old threads and site a recent sale but I thought it would be smart to consolidate sales into one thread so more people could see them and also to track the trends and be able to look back and see what has occurred.

I saw this earlier on my phone and had to go check Watchcount.com to make sure it sold for $125. I am surprised someone graded a PSA 4 Snake Roberts and even more surprised they asked $125 and got it. Amazing.
I was after that card earlier this year... ebay seller buccaneer had a few BGS 9.5s and the first 2 or 3 went for $199 (and this is after the listings sat for a while)... then I bought one for $250 in late spring.... interesting how they have gone up.... just like his 1998 due cards auto.

Looking to BUY n332 1889 SF Hess cards and high grade cards from 19th century especially. "Once you have wrestled everything else in life is easy" Dan Gable
I had another collector message me and wondered if he should take an offer on a 1982 All stars PSA DNA Flair in a 6 grade and I encouraged him to hold out and not come down. He ended up selling the card for $2300 direct and is now obviously thrilled. I sold an auto Flair years ago that displayed much better than this copy and I took only $150. I suspect this was about 4 years ago now but $150 to $2300 is huge!!!! My eye appeal was so much better. Oh well. At least I upgraded to a PSA DNA 8 Ric Flair when i sold my other. :-)

thanks for posting this rob! i was seriously thinking about listing my signed hogan 7. i had a figure in mind, but was contemplating the figure in my head was just crazy.
if a flair six got $2300, i would have been crazy alright and would have let it go way to low!
fwiw, there has been a major uptick in all thing/all sports signed hof rc cards. and while, i know these arent really rc cards, i think they are the 1st mainstream set and basically considered that.
i started snagging up signed hof rc a few years back and am just shocked daily at what some of these cards are now commanding.

Just curious, has there been an uptick at all from the 1948 Topps Magic Photo wrestling cards? I have quite a few that I picked up a few years ago.
Not too much in reality. I have the number one PSA graded wrestling set and looking to complete a variation set with the numbers on the bottom instead of the side. They are tougher to find than the others. I did see a Frank Gotch PSA 3 sell for $80 which is quite good for a low grade card. Wrestling is getting more respect these days so the prices may change in the near future.

I guess I’ll have to pull them back out and see if I have any of the other variation. Thanks!
