Hi grade attractive PFs of this series are available, and these are two examples. For business strikes, it's another matter.
"Seu cabra da peste,
"Sou Mangueira......."
These look so beautiful to me when they are proofs.

Hey TomB, thank you man. Yes, right, the 1890's were really a high point for proof manufacturing at the Phil. mint, and I just marvel at the coins they were able to produce, and then they lost the capability! You look at the proof Walkers and they are clearly inferior to the 1890's era proofs, with their cameo's and clear mirrors. Discuss....
Here you go::
Great trio of mint state halves! I think I'm going to faint!!!
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
Those are stunning proofs.... One wonders at how they managed to be preserved for over a 120 years...Just beautiful. Cheers, RickO
Oh my, my, my ... more eye candy. My eyes might get cavities!
The 94 Proof and the 99-O Business strike especially

They are made of chocolate!!!!
Here's a few more fav's....I've posted some of these before.
I could look at these all day. It would be wonderful to virtually rotate these coins to see the light play off of their surfaces.

Absolutely nice coins!
The technology used to mint these is 130 years old. Imagine. They’re fabulous miniature works of sculpture. The Barber design is a coiner’s coin - well balanced and perfectly suited for striking.
One would think we would have advanced the ball even further today, but alas......
This one (which came from TomB) currently resides in my Box of 14

I'd try to do my best Homer Simpson "Choc o laate" drool
Just beautiful @Eldorado9
Actually, gorgeous is probably a more apt description. Would be wonderful to sit and view those in good light and a comfortable chair!

Wow! That's so nice I took a screen picture of it.
More beautiful Barbers!
Yes, @DarkStar I remember that coin quite fondly!
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
It's a cacked PC PR64 cam
And I saw what you did with that 1909, slipping a quarter into the mix. Beautiful!

That's a superior 64! Agree w the CAC! That little 1909 quarter is part of an original matched 1909 proof set...I like the color on that one!
Nice trio of business strike Barber Halves. It took me four years to find one I liked. Got an 05 O from Brandon Kelly a long time ago.
"Seu cabra da peste,
"Sou Mangueira......."
I know exactly what you mean! It took me a full decade to find the first one and then another eight-years to find a second one!

Here are some AU's I shot for a friend.
Lance.
Those are simply fantastic.....Great dates too! Love em!
We've got some seriously nice coins in this thread! Keep em coming!
For some reason, high end Barber Dimes and Quarters with business strikes aren't hard to find. Not so for the Halves.
"Seu cabra da peste,
"Sou Mangueira......."
During their time...Barber Halves were like a buck when we were young uns! They were used.
Absolutely beautiful Barbers in this thread. Makes me want to start a collection.
Wow, all great halves! Geez, Louise, I think I drooled at least twice!
Dave
Love Barber halves and quarters.
For me, I love the design...It is just a classic of American coinage. Also, the variety...you have proofs, business strikes, 3 denominations, and all the rare mint marked varieties. Then most of all, you have all the history from 1892-1916.......And the technological transformations in american life, war with the Spanish, Teddy R., a lot happened during those years.
Nice coin but why revive a 4 year old thread on top of the thread you already made about this coin?
