Across the entire lettered edge bust half series the most difficult, in terms of eye appeal, are those from 1836. Why, I cannot say. I remember talking with Dick Graham about this a couple of years ago and we agreed.
Here's one I like, among the 23 die marriages. AU58, of course. I have just one more, an MS64 that might make the cut. Another dozen AU's that aren't quite there.

Found in the cornerstone of a church in the south, or so the story goes. A small group of 1851 $5's and others from around this period all show a similar coloration.

EdGOhio---What grade did NGC give your Indian G$2.5? It's a very nice looking coin.

Unfortunately they gave the AU58, I am by no means a great grader but I felt it should have been better. I'm considering cracking and re-sending to pcgs.

EdGOhio---That's why I asked. It looks better than AU58 to me.

Many AU58’s look better than low MS to my eyes. I would be happy with that coin in the NGC slab.
If it looks strong I’d submit to CAC. The cost for another slab effort would not be worth it.
You Suck! Awarded 6/2008- 1901-O Micro O Morgan, 8/2008- 1878 VAM-123 Morgan, 9/2022 1888-O VAM-1B3 H8 Morgan | Senior Regional Representative- ANACS Coin Grading. Posted opinions on coins are my own, and are not an official ANACS opinion.
Simply a treat to come back to this thread every day and find 8-10 new pieces that are just Museum quality . . .
To rep the little guy . . . . . an AU58 with superb concentric toning, totally invisible in my spectacular photographs !!! It absolutely IS a $4 coin in AU with a $150 look. That is why I have it . . . . .
Sorry the toning doesn't pop. That will several camera iterations down the line . . . . .

Oops . . . . obverse close up never made it. Froze the entire compy, started from scratch, and now this. I am gonna go eat some pasta . . . .

Both are amazing but the '33 stands out to me. I've seen coins that nice in 65 holders. Wow.
