does this grade AU50? the only obvious wear is the eagles feet.
Actually the Eagle’s feet are weakly struck, not worn. There is a light brush of wear on the high points of the coin. It will probably grade AU-55 or so.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
The pickup points on the reverse are the the wing tips and middle tail feather. It looks like there's a bit of wear in those areas, so I'll go along with 55. It's a really nice original looking coin!
I can agree with Bill Jones in part... Without question, what some may think is wear at the eagle's claws is due to a weak strike. While I see 55 is the reasonable grade outcome, it may get 53. Regardless, still a nice coin for a type set in a Whitman, Dansco or even Library of Coins album.

Looks Au to me
Welcome to the forum by the way 👍
Welcome. I am at AU. Wear isn’t just at the feet. The coin does have a nice look though.
BTW, Its a 1916-D I bought about 5 yrs ago for 75 bucks
Looks AU. I think it's a nice looking coin.
From the pictures my 1st impression is AU55.
I agree with AU55.
I agree with AU and that it's nice. It would look better if it was a half, but that's just me.
...except for the date. Lol.
Line under liberty says 55 to me.
BTW. By far, the most common Barber quarter. Lots minted and lots saved as the last year of issue
Darryl is a very tough grader and evaluator of Barber coins, so if he says 55, you have a solid coin there.
Nice coin! I like the look.
The weakness at the eagle’s talons is more due to strike weakness than it is wear, in my opinion. Still an AU coin.
Nice quarter. I’d guess AU55.

Looks unc to me
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
I'd guess 53 or 55. Quite a decent coin.
AU53. A good album type coin.

@hifisapi....Welcome aboard....AU55 is my impression as well....A nice example of this type. Cheers, RickO

Very nice, with apparent original surfaces and a bit of honest wear.
It's AU, but I think it is a higher grade than AU50. Welcome.

I'm not the best of graders, but AU53 popped into my head right away.
53
55 maybe but more likely net 53 in my mind due to the distracting neck marks and field marks in front of the chin area.
A Barber Quartet is made up of Nickels, Dimes, Quarters, and Halves.
I'd go 55, the weak eagle claws are normal for this date/mint

AU55...
My first impression was AU53
I'm with the 53 crowd. Nice looking coin but I think there is a little more wear that doesnt show in that particular photo.
