Wow!!! I’ve never been too interested in Peace Dollars due to the fact that it is rare I see one that knocks my socks off. This one here has to be one of the nicest I have seen. That is spectacular!!!
Sammy Hagar sang about the number 55. Came in today. Broken crosslet in the A in STATES. And I liked the slanted 5's. Now I have a example of each mint mark for type 1 Liberty $20's. No more purchases for a while for me.
Throw a coin enough times, and suppose one day it lands on its edge.
I’ve got two of these cool binders and have been stuffing them full and trying to sort by type, etc. for a along time.
Finally realized that I might put on my big boy , numismatist , pants and take care of my babies. $11.80 for 100 2x2’s from Wizzard on eBay. Free shipping 😎
Everyone is going to get a nice new home. I think I’m beginning to understand the role of caretaker. 😉🙀🦫
I don't have photo capabilities at the moment, but this is a minor find. Went into a thrift store today, in one section I saw 4 old cent folders. I picked them up out of mild curiosity, and found they were heavy. Opened them up, they were full of cents, and each folder cost 99 cents each. So, I bought them without even looking at the dates. When I got home, I went thru them - 148 Memorial cents and 182 Wheaties. Mostly common dates, but a scattering of minor good ones, like 1909, 15-D, 16-S, 17-D, 17-S, 18-S, 25-S, 26-D, 27-S, 31, 33. When I opened the 1986-era Dansco folder and looked it, I said to myself, "Oh look! Someone was careless and put that penny in the wrong slot", then I looked closer and realized to my surprise that it was in correct place - a 1924-D, and by my amateur grading skills, somewhere around a VF20 or VF25. Nice, pleasant find.
Four bits of an 1798 BB-111 Terminal die state. Not sure that any service would slab it though. I forget if the sectioned coins in the recent Heritage sale were certified or not.
I've been focusing a lot on my mirror proof set registry lately, here's two that I bought recently:
1967 SP66RB - pop 38/27 (still debating whether I should keep it or try to find a higher rated one)
1981 S PR66RB - pop 2/12

This is an ugly coin, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Anyway I have always wanted this coin from my variety registry set.
It is a 1943-S "Goiter" Quarter.

Nothing “ugly” about this coin.
I like it.
Yeah I like that one too. Such a strange die anomaly that is rarely seen to this degree. Nice Grade too!

I posted about this in the currency forum. But it certainly qualifies as a new purchase, so here it is:

Another ancient one. Finest of 3 certified. Census is XF, VF, F.

Awesome- I think that’s super cool congratulations!
I don’t have any ancients but I’ve been thinking about it
I have been dabbling in ancients a little. They seem to be taking off. My bids today at Heritage were all blown out.
Thank you!

One of my favorite commemorative designs. I've been looking for a gray example where the toning highlights the waves and other devices on the reverse.
