    I wonder what the origin of the image is and the time frame it is from.

    Possibly an old book illustration?

    The NY Times is not what it used to be. When I was in undergraduate school, it really was “the paper of record.” Now it has become more of a paper dedicated to opinion.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    Interesting article.... Shows the 'behind the scenes' manipulations to get around sanctions without incurring the financial wrath of the United States....Too bad...That is a nice picture of the Gobrecht though...Cheers, RickO
