Shows how hard it is to grade by picture. To me the cheek hits are too much for 65 and I’d go with 64. If it was simply luster disturbance I’d go with 65.

And it is beaned.

The hits on the face is really subtle in hand, truly minimal. See how often times a picture can go either way?
Was advised it would 7 without that.
Without the noise on the portrait, I would have been at 66. As I said, a beautiful coin! The grade penalization for marks in prime focal areas seems to grow progressively less over time. I guess the test of the grade will be how much the coin brings when you go to sell it...
p.S. We're grading off a photo, and if the lighting exaggerates the marks........

Correct, the lighting is bringing up the cheek marks way worse than in hand.

Second photos make it look better than the first. Could be a 64, even without a bath...
as for you, you should get spanked for that comment lol, this baby ain't never gettin a bath.
How was everyone off this much? I've never had that happen.
I recognized the quality of the fields and other positive attributes. I just cannot award gem status with such marks on Liberty's face.
I'll attempt to post some cheek scans tomm to show how it looks in hand. Then you can comment if its gem status etc.
The disparity of grades between 64 and 66 is big. It would not have graded 66+ or get beaned altogether, based on your comment.
I don't think I should be able to bean my own GTGs, but I'll do so: MS64+ CAC. It is a very nice coin. I'm glad you are happy with it.
I (and for me only) attempted to respond to your how was everyone off this much question. Congratulations on your dollar and please don't take my GTG and explanation adversely.
Well, this gives me hope my GSA 1881cc might hit 65 or 66. It has clean fields and the cheek only has minor abrasions. Of course I have to send it in first...

Unc details. I think the striations I'm seeing cause that grade. Hope I'm wrong and it's an MS 64+.

I like it.
Looks 64ish with some interesting die cracks.

I’d say 65. The nicks on the upper cheek are too distracting for 66. No matter what it’s great looking.

65+ Fields look amazing
Only holdbacks I see are dings on face and the carbon spots next to the cotton balls
Whoever said something about striations, it appears that its common on this issue.
Looks 65 at least to me.

I would say 64... mainly due to the cheek dings and field dings on the reverse.....Cheers, RickO
65+. Looks like it probably has booming luster.

Whoa!
Ranges of 63 needs a bath, to 66.
Noice WAGs!
Here is another view.
Such a range of guesses is really par for the course on a GTG.
Just goes to show how subjective grading is. To me it is a 64.

My initial grade was 63+, but after seeing the 2nd image, I'll say MS64.

I own 63's with less check chatter, not sure how they can say 66 but if you like it, that's all that matters. Congrats!

I was guessing that the toning slightly muted the luster. I guess it does not. That is one of the caveats of grading from images. Nice coin.

I got here too late and always guess too high so, I would have probably got it right this time. The fields do look amazing, congrats!
