In the small towns of Gilroy/Morgan Hill CA, forget roll hunting, just hunting for the rolls reminded me of this song...

Back to Halves. My bank has restricted most other denominations until further notice. I may be able to get dollar coins. I do have 1 more box or nickels and about a dozen penny boxes to sort.

This weeks finds in 2 boxes ($1000.00 face value) Always happy with silver halves! :)

I've just been thinking; am I not having as much luck as the rest of you guys (for the most part) in CRHing because I'm not giving myself enough "at-bats" so to speak? Luckily I have a bank and credit union branch almost right next door to me so I can swap out rolls most every weekday (and one is open Saturday). Unfortunately I'm only able to do one dime roll (I'm only missing 2009P), three quarter rolls (I'm missing one territorial quarter and 4-5 of the 2010-12 national parks), four nickel rolls (I'm missing both 2009's and 1962P; I tend to get several 1962D's though) and four penny rolls. I also live in a fairly small city (60K...100K in the whole county) does any of that make a difference?

I mean it was really swell a month or two back finding that 1900 Barber quarter but I would've thought I'd have found a few more silver dimes/quarters in rolls by now. I mean does everyone (even non-coin collectors) now know of silver dimes/quarters and are really careful not to spend them? But above all it really sucks they very seldom get half dollar rolls...I don't think I've gotten to go through any in at least a month and I do in fact love big coins best (not to mention as a child my grandma often gave me a few half dollars)

    WISHLIST
    Dimes: 54S, 53P, 50P, 49S, 45D+S, 44S, 43D, 41S, 40D+S, 39D+S, 38D+S, 37D+S, 36S, 35D+S, all 16-34's
    Quarters: 52S, 47S, 46S, 40S, 39S, 38S, 37D+S, 36D+S, 35D, 34D, 32D+S

@estil, hang in there Bud, CRH and Coin Star's are like fishing, sometimes they hit, and sometimes you just drink some beer and enjoy the day... Comes in streaks, the most important thing is you have fun!

I don't drink Bud or any other sort of beer or adult beverages (they all taste nasty to me and that's probably for the best)...would coffee/tea/Diet Pepsi be okay?

As a matter of fact I did find a nickel roll half loaded with 40s/50s dates...only found 2-3 though I was missing, so there's that. It would be a LOT more fun if they'd get some half dollar rolls :(

@joeykoins. The coin machines at my credit union are free and much quicker but… they fill up after three or four boxes of pennies then the teller has to go behind machine and empty the bags. This trip was 18 boxes plus the grocery store has a shopping cart.

By the way Coinstar rejects Ike dollars.
3 went in while stuffing cents and I kept watching the screen to make they counted. After a while I heard a loud thud when one of them came out followed by a shower of coins that were blocked by it. Eventually all 3 came out.

I have seen the inside of many of these machines after filling them up and learned there are 2 types. One is where all the coins counted go into a large bin together. I guess they sort them again at a central location and rolled. The second is more common in my experience in which it separates the coins into respected bank bags. I have seen one machine typically can hold 2 bags of pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters while only one bag of halves and dollars. This means you should be good bringing under 4 boxes of pennies without it needing a bag change depending on how full they are already.

By the way Coinstar rejects Ike dollars.
3 went in while stuffing cents and I kept watching the screen to make they counted. After a while I heard a loud thud when one of them came out followed by a shower of coins that were blocked by it. Eventually all 3 came out.

    .
about how long do you estimate it took to put all those coins through the machine?

Four minutes a box, I time it each time I go. Another machine I used to use took six minutes a box, it kept stopping to catch up whereas this one never stops. Now, these 18 boxes were not equal in size as some were quarter or dime boxes so it took slightly longer than 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Yes! 18 bank boxes in a shopping cart. Roughly 3 months worth. No Indians and a couple hundred Wheats that went back into circulation.
