!!! -- A New Sticker Added To The Crazy ? -- !!

Saw this for the first time today. The Eye Appeal sticker. Wut ????? Anybody else seen this or own any with this sticker or believe this adds value?

The photo of the coin with the sticker was so off color balance and focus an evaluation of the eye appeal was impossible to judge. Worthy of an Eye Appeal sticker? Can't say.

More overpriced stickers to add extra premium. IMO its getting out of hand.

  • KudbegudKudbegud Posts: 4,735 ✭✭✭✭✭

The claim is that the Eye Appeal sticker adds a 21% premium. Call me a skeptic but I'd like some proof by auction sales or other means of that claim.

Reminds me of the “service” that came out after 1 April about getting a sticker for a blast white coin or something to that effect.

Wonder how many of these stickers or any others we’ll see in the future.

It could be unique unless anybody else says they have a slab with this sticker or has seen more with them.

Hey, that could make it worth more than the 21% premium. LOLOL

Whelp... time to go back to purchase more sticker card stock and re-adjust my printer settings.

    Got Crust....y gold?

The paying market already shows favorably towards certain third party graders over others and the paying market clearly shows willingness to pay additional premiums for certain third party sticker add-ons. The sticker service isn't going away anytime soon just as the TPG's aren't going away anytime soon. The market will establish which stickers receive which premium.

That sticker has no eye appeal to me. Distracts too much from viewing the rare plastic slab label chosen for the coin. ;)

This is what I’ve been waiting for for years.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I assume it is satire. It is worth as much as those glittery stickers you can buy from Walmart.

Eye appeal is as subjective as grading....Some like blondes, some like redheads....some don't care about the drapery.... :D Cheers, RickO

So how many stickers are there, not counting different colors from the same people? I count CAC and this one and I know there are more that are on the tip of my tongue but won't reveal themselves to conscientiousness. Don't you hate when that happens?

LMAO!! This is even a bigger joke than cac!

That implies that you think CAC is a joke. Perhaps I'm remembering incorrectly, but I thought you had posted previously that you didn't bash CAC.

Lunacy. Before long, there will be so many stickers on the slab you won't be able to see the actual coin.

The good thing is you won't need to, as the twenty-four stickers will insure it's a high-end total creampuff! :o

Did a Google search for "Graded Coins Stickers". None of these were on the tip of my tongue.

    WINGS

    wingscoins.com/
Established in 2008, WINGS® reviews World Coins, all Tokens and Medals (foreign and US) and Ancient Coins that have been graded by PCGS, NGC, ICG, ANACS or ICCS (Canadian Grading Service). If the review results in our opinion that the item is “Premium Quality” within the assigned grade then, it will receive the WINGS® Gold Sticker. If it is “Solid for the Grade” then it will receive the WINGS® Silver Sticker. WINGS® stickers are Fraud Proof and Tamper Proof.

Thanks @BryceM, that one is vaguely familiar.

I found another one who's stickers also use overprinting for upping the designation clarification.
    MAC
    macablege.com/

MAC – will apply to all modern issue coins, like the way CAC pertains to traditional coins. If your coin is MACABLE it means you have a modern coin of “PQ”- premium quality that is

    I found the W sticker
    Sight White

    sightwhite.com/index.php/certification-service/
This standard, with the Sight White sticker should allow the dealer or collector to buy and sell coins without a big review process. This should make the acquiring of coins that do not have distracting marks much easier with a collection of coins that have been examined with that in mind.
Several dark spots are not for a Sight White collector

    And for set verification
    OSV

    https://osv.expert/index.aspx
OSV is a verification service. We do not grade coins, buy coins, or sell coins. As an independent verification service, dealers and collectors alike, are assured that all sets stickered by OSV are indeed authentic and original.

I had a coin with a MAC sticker on it! It was unceremoniously removed by the auction company before selling it for me. (Rather than being angry, I got a chuckle out of that.) :)

SO FAR, EVERY STICKER CAN BE REMOVED INTACT IF YOU KNOW HOW TO DO IT.

Concerning the OP's sticker. Someone is going to make $$$ from the dupes folks who use the service. It is "Capitalism" in action. :p

I believe this new service is of great value to blind coin collectors. Clearly a niche market.

Is it just me or do some of these new off-shoot stickers tend to immediately lessen your interest in the coin as soon as you see it has one of these stickers? It does for me. Of course, if the coin is appealing to me I will see it, but generally I'm turned off almost immediately by these non-CAC stickers. I don't know why but subconsciously, I feel like the sticker is being added to prop up the coin vs. say getting a "star" or "plus" by the original TPGS.

  • blitzdudeblitzdude Posts: 6,388 ✭✭✭✭✭

Can't wait till the day I get to pay extra for a sticker that legitimizes the original sticker that legitimizes the slab which legitimized the coin I thought I was buying. Collectors are a nutty bunch. lol
