Nice results. Here's the correct link to the last order: https://www.pcgs.com/shared-orders/order-details/21667994

Would love to see that Peruvian.

Dang. My small regrade just popped - I guess it will be a while until the images are done. Bumped a couple of my AU's to 58 and downgraded a cracked out MS63 to a $&$%#^ 61 (was sure it would 62)

One thing is for sure, the vast majority of coins crossed. So much for the big difference between both TPG companies.

It was about time for PCGS. That 1842 is great looking.

I am all over the place . The coins I crossed to PCGS I have not removed from the NGC registry although I have the NGC certs.

The NGC coins I have are still numerable.

Do I continue to build the PCGS registry or reverse course again because of this new development ?

I almost got tricked into thinking this was a new question after I agreed with the "Start two set guys." I see you have already made the best decision for you. That's lucky for me because I was getting ready to UNLOAD! :)

    Happy New Year!

This is, hands down, an amazing collection.

For what it is worth, your collection illustrates just how daunting a task it would be to seek a complete collection of these beautiful coins in anything approaching uncirculated grade...

And, I fear prices for nice copies are going to go up as time goes by...

    But that shouldn't stop you!

Happy New Year to you and everybody on this thread.

    Beautiful coins!
I'll never comprehend the grading of these. Coins I think are MS turn out to be AU and vice-versa.
I'm still waiting on the grades for these 4 I submitted about 2 weeks ago. I'll update when they are posted...

Most recently ( August ) I submitted some really nice NGC cap & rays 8 reales to our host for crossover . ( still waiting on those results).

I have over 250 PCGS graded 8 reales in my registry and then some.

Should I continue to make an effort ( and cost) to cross to PCGS ?
Or own both PCGS and NGC coins for the collection Im building?

Given the uptick in demand for cap & rays 8 reales I am rethinking my strategy ........what to do ?
I welcome your opinions, thank you.

I don't get it. What has changed? And what does the "uptick in demand" have to do with your decision to do crossovers?

    Good question !

    Nothing has changed .

Clearly not all NGC coins will cross to PCGS

I guess I’m trying to decide what to do with those that do it cross.

My reference to demand suggests that it really does not matter which holder
a particular coin is in at auction believing
    prices will be good anyway.

    Or does it matter ?

If I decide to let PCGS possibly downgrade a coin that does not cross my thinking is at this time with prices heating up that I may get less than otherwise by keeping the coin in a higher graded NGC slab.

However, I have no intention at this time of selling anyway .. so maybe I should just continue to seek crossovers and ultimately have the entire collection graded by PCGS .

What is your thought about that Mr Eureka ?

Do what makes you happy. My answer as to what makes you happy will be different from your answer and different from any of these other guys in here giving you their 2 cents. Do you really need our opinion on what most of us consider a truly remarkable collection no matter what the presentation plastic says?

Based on the assumption that the market does not favor PCGS over NGC, I would not downgrade anything at the present time. Instead, I'd hope to find better examples of those issues to upgrade the collection, and then sell the NGC coins as is.

I guess most know by now that PCGS is where my registry resides.

I have spent thousands to cross NGC 8 reales to PCGS......( about a 50/50 endeavor)

I find PCGS to be more strict on grading the 8 reales cap & rays series I collect and I like it that way !

interesting perspective on grading comparisons, you have a large enough sample size to make an educated determination. Have you decided to sell or trade the NGC coins that don't cross. At the premium level you are collecting, nice coins that meet the set standards are hard to find.

Incredible collection, thank you for sharing. High quality 8 reales are so difficult to find, now I know where a lot of them reside.

Why do you like it that way?

FWIW, I have two primary collections. One is strictly NGC and the other almost strictly PCGS, so I'm not playing favorites.

PCGS graded coins in this series seem to bring more at auction

Top quality US PCGS coins usually bring higher prices at auction. I think their grading is stricter and also more consistent. I have seen the same thing beginining to happen with world coins over the last few years. I think this trend will continue. "The best coins always end up in PCGS holders". It will become the mantra for world coins too, over time. NGC had a big head start in grading world coins which accounts for much of their popularity. For coins that are of lower grades or values I don't think it matters much at all which service you use.
