Aren't we all just a bunch of treasure hunters? Truth is it is just for kids , "Kids Coin Set" and worth $1.50 and $8.45 for the cardboard graphics holder. Perhaps one could hold onto it for 100 years and keep it in mint condition, then it might be worth even more!!

It lives! The 2004 Edison Commemorative Collector's Set, featuring an LED that is not a lightbulb. (I have to admit, when you image the set with the light on, it does sorta look like a lightbulb...)
It's ALIVE!!!!!! That's very cool. What a neat twist to tie history into coin collecting!! His middle name was Alva? What an unusual name. I had to look the commemorative coin up, I hadn't seen one before.
Well you folks convinced me to buy one. I like the dollar design and I will speculate on the half being special. I had to try, what with the W cents being sold for $0.01 each earlier today

The commem itself is in a SDB, but the packaging is local. The coin fit in the circle.
I have to image the PCB and see if I reverse engineer it...

They must have moved their hub. Packages from the Mint used to go to Southaven, MS first. Now it's to Olive Branch. Doesn't matter, it's still pretty much Memphis. (Olive Branch is only a couple miles from Memphis...)

I even wonder if around 20-30 years from now there will even be new circulated coins minted, as I expect everything will be digital, other than commemorative or collectable versions, maybe from West Point only even.

I doubt they'll bother with commemorative coins. They would lose money. Maybe bullion. Maybe.
Note that to complete this project properly, you have to FIND a quarter, and record the date and city.
Oddly, last weekend after thanking a forum member for a good BST transaction, I walked outside and saw what looked like a electrical box knockout in a mud puddle... and it turned out to be a bicentennial quarter! Maybe I’ll carefully restore it... 🤔🤪
OK, got mine today and got some closeups. The 2019-D Kennedy in the sets have the same PL surfaces as the 2014 Anniv set. I even threw in a 2017-S Enhanced for comparison. To get the same exact lighting on each, I had to shoot separately too. Pardon the quick iPhone shots -- A bit of dust too. Also, the capsules are designed the same in both sets. It's hard to get the removable piece off the coins!
I'm thinking they are VERY similar HIGH RELIEFS. What say you?

The rocketship 19-D is definitely prooflike. I also have the 14 Kennedys from that $10 set of two halves. Honestly tho those are the only new halves I’ve handled since 2008. What do the Kenns out of bags and rolls look like these days? I thought all coins in the series went to a higher relief sometime after 2008.
Are we thinking that these Kennedys are something different than what will be available from the Mint this year in bags, rolls, and the uncirculated set?
