@Hemispherical said: @BackroadJunkie Thanks! I knew I read it somewhere; and that new article explains a lot; but opens the question of the blanks.
Does it?
Lowell is coming out Feb 7. If they're freely available at dealers, and the collector versions don't go to backorder right away, then the Mint had the 60K-100K blanks to do the ATB issue.
That would indicate the problem is sourcing the extra 100K for the commem, which would have been over and above the Mint's normal 5oz blank order.
Further, American Memorial is supposed to come out this spring, War in the Pacific this summer. No solid dates yet, but I somehow get this feeling that these Apollo backorder dates may lie between the releases (or at least the striking) of the ATB pucks.
We'll see how it plays out over the next few months...
Quoting myself again...
Lowell is out, and isn't being backordered. My sub is still in process, and the status on the web page is "add to bag"...
The bullion looks like it will be released in the next week or two. There might have been a small delay there, though I'm not sure of the actual release scheduling of the collector pucks versus the bullion.

What's the difference between the collector puck and the bullion?
The collector version of the 5oz ATB quarters is better finished with a matte finish, given a "P" mintmark, and comes in a presentation box. They are available on the Mint Web Site.
The bullion version is sold through the Authorized Dealers (who also deal in ASE's), and is available in tubes of 10. (Individual coins are usually sold in plastic bags...) These are meant to be investment grade silver bullion only, though there are those who collect 'em...
Okay I got my Apollo 11 50th Anniversary 2019 Engraved Print's and I am ready to send them in for 1st Strike designation along with encapsulation. Is PCGS going to accept them if I send them in? Is there a cut off date for these? I dont want to open them just in case they say send it in. I want that 1st Strike label!!!!!
Cost mean's nothing my credit card is ready to spend!
I see what your talking about Paradise looks like they made it so you cant change your previous post. Better make sure your posts are correct before you post I guess.

2019-S 50C Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Set First Strike- 2 Coin Holder Set Earth Rising
Has anyone submitted there two coins sets for this holder yet?
Who is the host PCGS?
Number found on the PCGS web site under coin number list for submission
Posted about this earlier. Already called. The 2-coin set is for bulk submitters (100 or more) coins.
Bummer Thanks for correcting
Unless you guys want to try to get 100 together for Submission? I’ve got two we need another 98 ha ha
I been working heavley but I just took a break and got off the phone with the PCGS rep. I was JUST TOLD IF YOU WANT THE DUAL HOLDER with the Set Earth Rising but not the other Apollo label. They will do it for you but you will have to call in and request it in my case as my coin's have been already sent in and accepted. But not yet processed. I was told when I get the email stating that PCGS have logged the coin's in call in and they will go forward and authorize over the phone to get the special 2 coin holder AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE!

What is the other Apollo label?
Is the “Earth is Rising” different from the Astronaut Memorial Fund (AMF) label?
Hemispherical I have never seen the Earth Rising but he made it sound like it would be different from the Astronaut Memorial Foundation label. So you might want to talk to PCGS or maybe see one of the dealers who might be selling theirs on Ebay maybe or their web site but it will be in a 2 coin holder which is different. But it will be together as a set. Other than that I do not know much more. Maybe somebody might know and post a picture of the Earth is Rising. Sorry

I am going to have to check to see what I can do. My half set submittal was for the AMF label since I submitted a gold coin to get the less expensive modern fees vs the modern gold fees.
Hi Bull so those are 2 separate holders and not 1 holder/set. The PCGS rep made it sound like 2 coins but in 1 holder. I will have to call them when my order starts its processing. Glad to see your on top of things getting what you can! Keep up the hunt.

Yes mine are separate. I think the one piece holder would be cool too. I'd probably get one.

2019-S 50C Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Set First Strike- 2 Coin Holder Set Earth Rising
Has anyone submitted there two coins sets for this holder yet?
I would assume that the coins have to be submitted in unopened Mint shipping boxes like ATS otherwise any single issued Apollo half could be substituted
I am not into the two coin holder unless both coins could be guaranteed to be the same grade....I think it a bit lame to have a 70 Apollo and a 69 Kennedy or vise versa
First strike is good for 30 days after issue if you send coins after that they have to be mint sealed box dated with in the 30 day issue time or that’s how it reads to me
There are no dates on the box. You would have to enter tracking number on website or get shipping date off the invoice inside ( works if submitted to PCGS/NGC). I am going to print out the delivery notice on USPS website in the event I hold it longer than tracking expires on website and I want to sell it sealed.
The date on the invoice inside the sealed box would determine FS eligibility. PCGS deals with this probably on a daily basis. Good safety plan to print the Post Office delivery notice info off the Informed Delivery page or email..
Yup...shipping date is on the inside receipt for PCGS....for the collector the date shipped is always on the US Mint "order history" page along with the tracking number
Method: UPS Ground Sig Adult
Date Shipped: 02/5/19
Track Order: 1ZA5983WA80492xxxx
If that date is before the cutoff date then you are good to go....(unopened box obviously if submitted after the cutoff date)
The Mint stated that 70k were shipped before the error was found. My recent sets were ordered after the backorder status was lifted and they also have the wrong names on the sleeve.
I will assume that ALL the sets shipped will have the incorrect names and even if they do correct it on the last group the wrong sleeve group will still be huge....and... if they then send correct sleeves as replacements it will be a non-issue
If they require purchasers to request new sleeves then the new ones will be the low number because I bet a bunch of collectors could give a rats azz what's on the packaging
@Bullsitter said:
I read what Backroad said about his "brown box" collection. I haven't started one yet but thought why not.
I have a sealed box of 5 Apollo Half Dollar Sets with the wrong sleeves.
Would this one be a good one to start with?
I'm not so sure the printing error on the sleeve will be more than a minor oddity. 70,000 reported bad, if correct, is a lot.
Maybe the corrected sleeve might be interesting if kept with the incorrect one. Not everybody will ask for the reprint if that is how the mint will distribute these replacements.
If they are sent to every original buyer with no action by them then they will be the same number as the bad ones. Will every body save the replacements? Probably not. Will a lot of them be lost over the years? Probably yes. Imagine your great great great grand child seeing the two sleeves. What would be their reaction? Zzzzzzzzzzz. Just sayin'.
