Dear Perry,
Be glad we took you back in.
Had you kept your thoughts to yourself like @ricko , only how and when to wash a tarnished coin comments, you'd have right now 35K + 270
However, don't despair, at the rate you going today, you should have 35K by March!
Any questions?,

Thank you for Clarifying the rules Heather. I am a newbie to the hobby and obviously to the forum. But, I must agree that I have enjoyed and learned from RogerB.
Are threads about recent grading trends off limits? If so, I'll refrain from posting them in the future. I don't know if my initial post or some of the subsequent comments that caused my recent thread to be nuked.

They are a tricky topic because a very small sample size (say the 1-5 people who reply) can have a big impact on people's choices to submit. There were also implications being made in the thread that our standards change, which is false.
We pride ourselves on a consistent standard of grading, a few collectors, who are likely not professional graders, disagreeing with the grades they received is not representative of a "change in the standard."
If you have an argument against this, feel free to PM me, I would be happy to discuss with you.

Hi @Kkathyl, I personally have not seen any of these posts, but if you PM me we can discuss and I will do my best to solve the problem.
Does flagging a post do anything? Not that I'm advocating for a board full of snitches, but sometimes a post can really be off track and there doesn't seem to be a way to report it (with it being election day, you just know someone won't be able to help themselves).

Yes, flag-> report will allow us to review the post(s) and act accordingly
I will always call out the liars and people who parade on here as something when they are as phoney as can be. This place is littered with FAKE news
What you all want to share the love and get ripped off or wrong information? please.....
You do not know the people behind the icons. Long ago I called for PCGS to make people sign in using their real names...That would eliminate a lot of FAKE news here.

Yes, and that's too bad because what happens today ismore important to some of us than coins. In fact it will possibly affect coin values in the future. Nevertheless, here is an example of some haze on a gold coin. Chemicals should take it right off.
PS I sure hope some itchy member does not decide to flag that OT post about digging for gold!
Its more important, but irrelevant in a COIN forum. If you want to discuss politics / voting etc go to a forum specifically for that. I can just picture the "post your red/blue toned coins" after the results in a veiled attempt to get a political discussion going. Ask banned forum members about that approach.
@specialist said: "You do not know the people behind the icons. Long ago I called for PCGS to make people sign in using their real names...That would eliminate a lot of FAKE news here."
I thought this way once. But I've changed my mind. Some forums let you post your sex, age, and location. I really like that part but adding a name for most is taboo. When I actually owned any coins, I burned my coin publication labels and mail so as to keep my old hobby secret. Now, Your coins belong to me for a few days!
So, IMO, most ID's should stay hidden. However, members such as you SHOULD say who you are as what MANY of you say (most of the time) is "golden.
Please allow me to tell a funny story. I wish more of you would share them.
I lived in a high-rise apt. next to the Pentagon in Arlington VA. I had a panoramic view of the area (DC, Nat'l Airport. I-95) out the window. One sunny summer day, I was burning a bunch of NUMISMATIC RELATED paper, envelopes, labels in the kitchen sink. Soon I heard fire sirens way off. No big deal as every three months one of our three buildings would have a false alarm. As the sirens got closer and louder, I walked over to the window and saw them coming to our building. I quickly doused the flames and shoved the muck down the garbage disposal. I thought nothing of it.
Apparently, some smoke had gone up the kitchen vent and someone panicked and called the fire dept. I was finished, sprayed Lysol, and was fanning the smoke smell when there was a pounding on the door. I walked into the living room, opened the door and three firemen in full gear plus the resident manager were in the hall. "Francis, are you burning something?" Gulp. I let them in and showed them the kitchen, my burn pan, filled water bucket and fire extinguisher (just in case). I promised not to do anymore burning. On the way out, one fireman (they had all been checking around) called another over. "Joe (or whatever) take a look at this!" His hand had opened an extra large contractor bag (almost 4 ft high and stuffed to the max) filled with thin , three foot long strips of shredded U.S $20 bills I was attempting to piece together. They though the stuff was counterfeit. I gave them each a few strands to take home for their trouble. Why was the bag in the living room next to a table with some strands matched? It passed the time while watching TV and was good (just as puzzles) to develop an eye-for-detail.
Additionally, when a new member of the female persuasion was invited over for dinner, I told the sad story of how almost $10K of mine that I had hidden in my office had been shredded in error by the oriental maid who did not realize it was money. It's all a baseball game.
Unfortunately in the midst of a public arena, any good thing will eventually need strict supervision. PCGS has always been the standard of grading for my family of coin dealers and many coin dealers we associate with, as a Canadian I feel privileged to be apart of this great forum. That being said, I know myself and others also appreciate your leniency to unban key members of this forum who's input and posts are not only entertaining but pertinent to the US Coin community. Specifically insider2, even tho his new avatar is of a dove attacking a pomeranian for some reason.
Thank you for taking the time to engage and lay out the rules for us Heather.

They just shipped back 2 submissions 4 days apart. They still can't figure out how to combine shipping.
Ever been in a busy shipping room processing hundreds of packages a day? Time is money, and the time it would take to flag Shipment A to be put aside while waiting for Shipment B to come along, and then flagging Shipment B, and then going to find Shipment A (because you can't leave it sitting on a table in the shipping room for a few nights) would cost more than just sending out each package when it is ready.

I'd want my coins four days earlier, rather that wait on them to combine shipments. I worry when the coins are out of hand - I like that PCGS puts them in the mail ASAP.
The reason we are under this current police state is because of all the flag happy people. Yes. Heather brought PerryHall back to life and you can once again talk to him directly. Thanks Heather!
So what happens to the ID "dirtygold"? Will you keep it as your alt for next time?
It's dead. I never believed in alts. Never made any sense to me unless one is planning to troll which I also don't believe in. For those that asked, I picked my avatar because my initials are DEW and green is my favorite color. I only drank one Mountain Dew in my entire life and didn't care much for it. Also, my forum name came from Perry Hall, Maryland where I lived for over 40 years until I moved to Florida to be close to family, especially our four grand kids.
Great background on your avatar and name. I had always wondered about those!

This is incorrect on many levels. Everyone is free to share their grade results where they think they are good or bad. “I disagree with this grade” is different from “PCGS is a joke look at how good my coin looks in this picture but I only got this grade. They need new graders” one is a discussion, one is an inflammatory statement.
The only social posts that have been closed are ones that have gone south. As stated above, and reiterated multiple times, and as evidenced by quite a few of the current front page discussions, there is nothing wrong with being a little off topic.
I wish everyone would settle in. The paranoia far outstrips anything that has happened. Heck, I haven't even been banned.
A few social threads closed is not that big of a deal. A few chastened members still here is no big deal either. The rules are pretty modest and @HeatherBoyd has been, I think, more than fair in explaining them. I also trust she is being fiar in warning people who are getting close to or crossing a line.
The rules haven't changed, they're being enforced. We were allowed to run amok for a while and are now being brought back in line. I'm enjoying the threads that actually have coins to look at and discuss.

I like standards and common sense laws. My perspective in getting worked up on issues is trying to look at things from priorities, who is getting hurt, who deserves defense, and whether the wronged parties are getting the type of support they need. Profanity, vulgarity, meanness, do nothing but bring forums down as well as an end justifies the means business perspective. As long as members are honest and helpful they should have nothing to fear.
