Spent some time down in the local park a few weeks ago. Love the ones just laying, covered in mud, like there isn't a care in the world. Of course, if you stand outside for a while, you will understand why they cover themselves in mud.

Why are the skeeters so vicious in YNP but not so much out in the open areas of Wyoming?
I grew up about 90 minutes from the park and I worked in West Yellowstone two summers when I was in high school. Back when it was still allowed, we snowmobiled into Old Faithful every winter. It's a great place, but I really had no idea how special it was at the time. I still like to get back at least once a year. Last year I had the opportunity to take a family from Namibia there on their first trip to the States. They thought it was pretty cool.
I went for the first time last summer for the eclipse. The best buffalo story I have while there was leaving the park one night we were stuck in traffic. I turned to look out my side window and it took my eyes a moment to adjust. When they did, there was a bison standing at my window staring at me from no further than a foot from my window.

@bolivarshagnasty....That is a beautiful '37D Buff...
Some great pictures here.... We have a couple of Buffalo farms here, I drive past one a couple of times a week...Once in a while they will have a 'break out'...causes some issues for a day or so...They are awesome animals....Cheers, RickO
My current coin collecting interests are: (1) British coins 1838-1970 in XF-AU-UNC, (2) silver type coins in XF-AU with that classic medium gray coloration and exceptional eye appeal.

Was expecting a clip of an idiot taunting a bison.....

Great pictures of the bison. I have been to Yellowstone twice, once for a week in 1974 just out of high school and then in 1979. Stayed in Old Faithful Inn for a night. Never saw a black bear either time.

Not a nickel, but fits the theme................
Personally, I like your quarter more than the nickel. But that's just me.
Beautiful picture. I was there in 1990 and got to watch an entire herd swim across a river. So cool!
I've never been there. Thank you for sharing !!!

Here's my favorite Buffalo 5c. Just LOVE the sunset colors on this one, and that's why I use it for my avatar

Great photos and I’ve never been there!
It is one of the few places in the world where you could meet someone from anywhere in the world. The other one is probably Disneyworld.
MS66 taste on an MS63 budget... unless it is a '37-D or '38-D. The '29-S is nice regardless of grade.
I took this at the Cape May, NJ zoo about 5 years ago.
I bought the 37-S just a few day ago

Thanks and the 29-S is a 65, my 37-D is only a 64 until the upgrade is in the proper holder.
Lots of sweet buffs in this thread.
When I was a kid, there was a farm in our area that had a few buffaloes. Sometimes, on Sunday, we would drive down to see them. Great days.
This thread makes me want to put a set together.

Newer buffalo nickel......
Don't let 'em fool you. Anything is cute when young....
But then they grow up into one of these. A hairy, drooling beast...
Was expecting a clip of an idiot taunting a bison.....
Magical place... I've not made it there yet...
