If they gave out a mac-coin for buying a Portuguese sausage, eggs and rice platter... I'd be a happy camper. That or a double fish filet sandwich is the only thing I'd buy there.

I've posted this before - was the menu when I was in college in 1973.
These days I much prefer 5 Guys.
Anyway, that is one heck of a menu board - those prices don't seem real but I know they were at one time. I still recall the ads McD's ran where you could get a hamburger, fries, and coke for under a dollar.
Barf, Barf, Barf. At 71 the stomach certainly cannot stand that junk, Big Mac, for any reason at all. 10 years from now the tokens will be Barf material also.

BARF Along.
Ken
But how do you REALLY feel about them?
I can relate. At my age I have no business eating Big Macs but I slid by on my boyish good looks. Next time i.might not survive the process.
0 and holding. I only buy from the value menu, and I only hit Mickey-D's sometimes when on the way to a National Park.
Plus there is a countably very large set of possible Big Macs to collect. Oh, you meant the tokens?
You can stack all 3 patties and heck with the other buns

Big Macs have too much bread, IMHO. They do taste good, though. I may buy one just to get a single novelty coin but have zero interest in completing the set. Then, it's back to Quarter Pounders and triple cheeseburgers for me. Lol.
Asheland did it and I am planning to do it in conjunction with the local church "Kau Kau Kitchen" feeds the homeless day.
I am still not sure if I would jump into the frenzy though....

Technically true, but incongruous. If there were no tokens and I did not buy the Big Macs the food would not have been given to the homeless.
But, if McDonald's had given me a token
(with no value for free food) and also gave a free Big Mac to the homeless for each one I bought then maybe they would be onto sonething. Or, they could allow people to buy just the token and let McD give the food to the homeless. Or, they could allow people to donate the tokens back for charity.
I think I will email McD HQ and suggest they issue a set in silver and sell them to raise money for food programs.

The Kihei McD only gives one coin per transaction. To get all 5 more or less at the same time you have to go through the Drive-Thru 3 times and go inside twice ordering one Big Mac each time.
I am sad to say the Kihei restaurant is out or nearly out of the coins.
Zero here as McDonald's is not allowed on our Island! Sure I could take a ferry to the nearest Mickey D's which is about 5 miles away in a neighboring town, but now you're talking a 90.00 ferry trip and about half a day of time spent coming and going. I'm waiting for the next big Cheerio's coin promotion.....they will do that again some year right?
Wow... these MacCoins are creating quite the frenzy.... I am not sure I have ever had a Big Mac... and not sure I will have one....I did have a cheeseburger at Five Guys last week...they only took my money and gave me the food No tokens...I guess I will wait for them to show up at yard sales ....Cheers, RickO

But think of all the money that McD's has brought in that has helped pay workers who really need the money. And think of all the suppliers of the big mac items (sauce, buns, meat, cheese) who might be receiving a little boost from all the sells. A boost in sales is always a good thing, even if some of the food goes to waste.

The workers are going to be paid regardless whether they are turning out 20 burgers per hour each or 30. I don't think the demand from this small promotion is creating new Mcjobs. The extra money is going into the corporation's pocket. Any increase in stock price will probably be trivial. The CEOs and corporate leaders will likely get fat bonuses though.

I can't agree when there are regions where famine exists even today. The increase would likely be de minimis for the suppliers, but time will tell.

Well, I would imagine the coin supplier loved getting this deal with McD's, no? It was probably more business than they are used to. Look for the good in things.

To get me to eat a McDonald's Big Mac they would have to be giving away GOLD Big Mac Tokens.
Also only 1. I had no interest in completing the set but I did want one of them
Collector, occasional seller
I keep saying I need to stop and at least get one but I haven't yet.

I don't go to fast food places, so my answer is none.
I have ate a few over the years. I have made many thousands of them over the years too.
They were out of them already near me
So got a Quarter Pounder instead - $5.09, not $0.70
Maybe I should read all these threads, but WTH is the deal with these?

I avoid 5 Guys, because I eat too many of the damn peanuts while waiting in line!
I do the same thing - eat too many of the FREE peanuts. I've learned not to order the massive fries and just get the burger and a drink of some sort.

Hot Apple Pie .26.
I remember in High School in 1973 -74 at Lunch Time buying Hostess Apple Pies for a quarter.
Those pies had real apple chunks in them back then,,,,,,, not the apple flavored paste goop in pies today.
I didn't buy any my junior or senior years cause I only took a couple of classes those years and left before lunch.
Had to go home and get on the John Deere and do some plowing.

They are merely fall under collectibles....and if you have fun collecting them then so be it

0 with 0 coins and 0 interest in collecting them.
