@Baley so jealous! I visited Torrey Pines State Park a few years ago. One of the most beautiful places in our country in my opinion. Breathtaking views of the Pacific from the cliffs.

Many many years ago I was working at a customer's site in NYC. It was a Saturday and one man brought his young daughter with him to work. I happened to be in the men's room when he walked in with his daughter because one of them had to use the rest room. The young girl looks at those tall urinals and says: "look daddy, showers" I lost it right there. Never forgot that moment as some things out of the mouth of babe's are just priceless.

My Wife and I super lucky to blast off last week to Hampton, Va to take in a three day getaway and enjoy two nights with Dead & Company at the Hampton Coliseum. Its our favorite thing to do and the last 4 years or so were letting this band pick our vacation spots and getting us to go places we would otherwise pass on. Took in a guided tour of Battleship Wisconsin in Norfolk and stayed on he ship over 5 hours. Wildly interesting! Antique mall on one morning and a great brick and mortar coin shop in Virginia Beach called Collectors Choice. Awesome couple and very helpful and engaged with showing us what they had. Bought a few pieces for fun. Walked around Fort Monroe. Just so much to preview in three days, will have to go back someday and explore more.
Eating lot food is always different and fun. Some guys hauled in a legit pizza oven to the lot somehow and I was happy to indulge in some carbs. Really chill vibe mixed with the anticipation of what the show will bring. Just love doing this with my lovely lady and wife of 18 years.
Of all the pictures of the trip I love this one the most. It looks like she's witnessing the heavens open up and in awe of the splendor. Of coarse she is. These Dead shows arn't about the players, I don't believe they happen for purely financial reasons either, but a celebration of what humanity can do with sound, lights and loosely structured improv. Mostly a psych jazz band that bounces in and out of Grateful Dead songs we fell in love with so long ago. Heck, its tough down here on earth and its just so great to get all together and just jump, yell, dance and cry and somehow process the magnitude of life.
First time in Manhattan.
Had all day to explore and it was awesome.
Took a half hour or so for us bumpkins to get our sea legs but when we did, we crushed it.
"If I say something in the woods and my wife isn't there to hear it.....am I still wrong?"
Something different today. I received my Ancestry DNA results, and I'm a lot more English than I had originally thought. One of the reasons I did this was to know more about my mother's side. She was adopted, and so I know next to nothing and she doesn't have much interest. I was matched to a 1st cousin on her side, so I'm hoping to unlock some family history.
And while we're on the subject of family, my paternal grandfather would have had his 100th birthday yesterday. Here's a photo of him as a young boy.

This is a photo taken from the summit of diamondhead in Hawaii. 4,200 ft, not much for some but try it being old!!
Seems like an interesting drink/place. What’s the restaurant/venue? I also live in the area and have been looking for something new.
