Your post about Air Force One gaining altitude so fast reminded me of something I heard a long time ago - during the 9/11 attacks, F-16s asked the pilots of Air Force One to slow down because they were burning too much fuel trying to keep up and they would have to return to base and refuel. Just goes to show that that jet isn't your ordinary civilian aircraft.
@Downtown1974
I don't see them in my neck of the woods either and was surprise to see this one.
It was very leery and I couldn't get any closer for a better picture.
I think it was a Redhead because they have a golden eye and a Canvasback I think has a red eye.
I’ve heard of the red head, but I was under the impression that it was another name for the canvasback. You guys are indeed correct - different colored bill/eyes.

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing. While on the subject of Air Force One here are some added photos for which I don't claim credit. (The second one pictures an extended family member in conversation with the. President aboard Air Force One:
And here a few I will take credit for which were taken at the point in time that the then President renamed Mt. McKinley to Denali.
Like the views from this past week, Mount Denali can be seen on the horizon.
The pilot had slowed the plane and kept it level to allow the President to capture a photo of Denali on that historic occasion.
That appearance of Air Force One was also prefaced by a black surveillance helicopter as it swooped down to make sure my tripod mounted camera and telephoto lens were just that.
And for good measure this photo which I took after the landing depicts the President aboard "The Beast" which had been flown in in advance by another aircraft:

Nice additions.
Here is an added photo from late Thursday afternoon that I was able to take as Air Force One took off.
And for comparison here is a photo I took just a few weeks ago of Air Force One when we were stranded together on the tarmac at Sea-Tac:

And the photograph actually captured the color pretty accurately...

I had it on a brown background, and the stone looked almost blue or violet, put it on white and perfect color…. 👍

Great pic! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a canvasback except in photos. Lots of mallards in my neck of the woods.
