Indeed, I have milkweed growing especially for the Monarchs in the summer then patches of zinnias so they can feed before heading off to winter in Mexico......... Hope they all make it!!!!!!!!
And of course I gather the caterpillars in summer to help them on their way.........from start to finish.......... then let go! (That's the hard part - "Farewell my friend")

Oh, it's not as easy as "planting" milkweeds. It takes a few years for the plants to actually grow tall and flower. The seeds are very difficult to propagate then it takes years for the tap roots to develop so they regrow in the same areas every year. I have two first year roots that grew in a pot this year, if you are serious I can send them to you - please just pay the shipping cost. PM me if you are serious.

Apparently the Monarch Butterfly depends upon a certain type of plant which has become scarce and consequently leading to their increasingly limited numbers and locales.
An Eagle Scout to whom our Rotary Club gave a scholarship described this to us at a recent club meeting as he explained how for his Eagle Scout Project he planted numerous starts of the plant to benefit the Monarchs.

Haha, nice one. This reminds of a story my husband like to tell. As a kid, one of his aunts had a Boston called "Tiny" and kept pictures of her and him all over the house. He never thought much of it, but as an adult (after she was long gone) he realized the joke his aunt was playing. Everytime Tiny died, she'd go right out and get another Boston that looked exactly like the first dog, so that by the end of her life she had pictures of her and Tiny over 60 or so years.

That's what I always thought too. Maybe just an exception My ANNIE was an 85 pound German Shepard type dog that lived till 16. Then went down hill fast and had to have her put down.
We found here as a stray pup and was really the first dog I ever had. Damn was she

Our Bostons average 12 1/2 years. Our larger dogs around 9 tho we currently have a Shepherd mix who's gonna be 13 soon. It's very difficult when they pass but I've had dogs all my life and wouldn't be without one.
Sorry done and done I take it as a complement and appreciate your response. I don’t make the best decisions sometimes and it’s nice that you would kindly say something. Thanks
We have the same garter snakes here as you do up there.-nothing as colorful as the guy above, tho we do have some nicely colored Red Sided Garters locally.
I believe that is a San Francisco Garter snake. It's range is very localized and it's on the endangered list.

Mrs_Spud and I have had 5 different rabbits that we rescued from shelters over the years. When I saw the rabbit dish above I was tempted to put a picture up of some butchered dogs I found on google, but I stopped because it’s bad taste. But maybe if you marinated them they wouldn’t taste as bad 😉
Actually, the name of our first rabbit was Mr. Hasenpfeffer T. Bunny and everybody we knew threatened to cook him when they first met him. But he had such a great personality that everybody ended up liking him and realized what a great pet he was 🌞
Here’s Dancer, the latest rabbit we had. She passed away about a year ago

Really?
What part of town do they stay in?
On property owned by one of the airports there. That's how localized they are.
Oh wow

I don't think they stay in town - maybe the outskirts lest they become dinner or used for TP (Flossing with a snake) .........
