This Friday Eve, here are some photos from my most recent travel to Japan before the current travel restrictions.
Featured are views in and above Kobe in the Arima Onsen village and various Japanese delicacies, which among others, include mochi strawberries, tempura, sashimi, and kabayaki (grilled unagi or eel).
While it is still Friday, here are some photos of delicacies in Korea captured by my camera on recent travels there. Included are some type of crispy insects, squid, and a scene at the local fish market.
..... and with it being Sakura Season in Japan, here are some photos I took there just before the travel restrictions. The initial photos are at Himeji Castle from Spring 2019.
For the movie buffs here, Himeji Castle was the shooting location for the Ninja school featured in the James Bond Film, "You Only Live Twice" which was filmed in 1967. There were a number of exterior shots featuring Himeji Castle including the walkway that one takes to enter the castle and climb to its top. Included are photos I took from the top of the castle looking down over the tiled roofs to the cherry blossom trees seen below. To get to the top one climbs on hands and knees a series of steep vertical steps and ladders as there is no elevator and the designers of the castle purposely made it difficult for any intruders to have easy access to the upper floors.
(Additional scenes had been planned to be shot there but a local controversy erupted when a local newspaper erroneously reported that the Ninja Stars being thrown at an interior castle wall were causing damage to the historic structure. The producers responded that a fake wall had been erected for the scene, but the bad publicity had already done its damage and the producers went elsewhere in Japan to finish the shooting.)
And these are views of Sakura in Tokyo at Tokyo Tower, in Kanazawa at the Castle Gate with the cherry trees blooming along the castle's moat, and in Ise at the bridge to the Emperor's Shrine there. The final view is also in the Ise region.
Here's a project I've been working on...a She Shed (Covid project) for the Mrs. Found a good deal on some clear redwood that I made into some fancy facia boards for the She Shed and am installing them before I partake in any Bourbon or Rye!
It is not that life is short, but that you are dead for so very long.
I've been doing some wildlife photography from my balcony... was just putting the telephoto on when both these things happened... a hawk at about 150 feet away and then a dragonfly at about 40 feet away.
Snapshots really but such a cool moment...

Photos taken yesterday on Friday eve, during and after our neighborhood hike;
With our first flowers coming out and the birds returning, the signs of Spring were evident:
And here are photos from earlier in the week to include a view of the sun reflecting off the mountains and views from the office:

Here’s our inside bunny. Her name is appropriately “Bun”. Maybe she tells the outside bunnies that we are OK.
