I posted this on instagram earlier this week. But, I took this shot was taken sometime early last year and we never found a use for it, so I'll post it here.

Phil thanks for posting the photograph of those 1792 patterns!! I hadn't seen it before. They are very familiar to me. Any chance we could get a poster made of those? They look really cool with the background you put together. I appreciate all the work you did there. You are just so talented with your photography.

...An added point of trivia, while Denali is the highest mountain in North America, Foraker qualifies as the third highest peak in the United States. Anyone have a guess as to what mountain is the second highest in the United States?
If this were a "Car Talk" Puzzler, one could add that the same mountain is actually the second highest in two different countries and the other country also gets to claim having the second highest mountain in North America...
Being both a geography and a Car Talk geek I had to look it up. The second highest peak in both the US and Canada is Mount Saint Elias at 18,009 feet. For good measure, I looked up the highest peak in Mexico, which turns out to be Pico de Orizaba at 18,491, which makes it the third largest peak in North America after Denali in the US and Mount Logan in Canada.
Thanks Skyman. Not sure how I missed this the first time, but did recall your excellent Godzilla post. Expect to be in Tokyo in the near future. Can you identify the location?...
Godzilla can be found at the Hotel Gracery in the Shinjuku district of Tokyo. We stayed there for several days as part of a National Geographic tour group and quite enjoyed it. The surrounding district, while NOT "sketchy" in the US sense, does have a fairly high level of "gentlemen's clubs", bars etc.
Here's yours truly and my daughters after a class at a martial arts temple (again, set up by National Geographic) in Kyoto, later on in the trip.
FWIW, this was the description on the back of the painting in which my uncle described what a Potlatch is - or at least what it once was back then before World War II.
And for comparison, here is a similar themed painting by Alaska's most famous artist, Sydney Laurence. I believe the two knew each other as they both lived in Alaska with their time in Alaska overlapping. (The below painting is on display at the Anchorage Museum.)
