The water feature for which my town-Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio-is named. It's been underwater since 1912 when the Ohio Edison dam was built but it will be revealed again when the dam comes down in a couple of years. Notice the attire worn by the people pictured.
That is such a great photo. Reminds me a lot of one of the waterfalls in upstate New York's Letchworth State Park. Photo included in link.
Thanks! We are not that far from Letchworth State Park so I wouldn't be surprised if it is part of the same rock formation. Looking at some images of the park I see it's a spectacularly beautiful place.
So I collect coal mining lanterns too. I learned today that a Koehler No 211 is rare, quite by accident. I ended up with four of them from a live auction in southern West Virginia and doing some eBay searches found only one completed auction.
Here’s some hanging in the shed. And some in the wash room

West Virginia child coal miners in the very early 1900s. The smoke is coming out of their teapot lamps on the soft caps.
Photographs such as this one are credited with the advent of Child Labor Laws in our country’s history.
Yes. And check this one out with a crippled boy. Very well may have lost his leg in the mines.
Between that prospect and the possibility of polio, life for children in that era offered unique challenges.
In college I did a paper on the subject of sociologist and photographer Lewis Hine who was born in 1874. His photographs of children in the work force are credited for having been instrumental in bringing social reform. The posted photo may well have been one of his but after a brief internet search I was unable to confirm that.
I too recall flying PSA on numerous occasions. What stands out for me was the banter from the cockpit as the pilots did an amazing job humoring us passengers.

I was out at a club back in the day watching John Hammond play and she walked into the show. She had played at the local arena that night and came over to the small club to see her friend John. It was a local Blues Society meeting / fundraiser / show. She sat and signed autographs and just talked to everyone. She is a very nice lady. Lucky to have worked with her. I liked the duet she did with John Prine. Sorry to see him pass away this year.

Check out the brand new model on display on the second floor.
Looks like the two men on the lot are standing next to a Woodie ( painted to look like a Woodie). Wonder if one of them is Renski.

Under the light of this morning's painted sky my security camera caught this Moose intruder.
After leaping over the gate the Moose ambled up for a close encounter:

Yes. We have Timber Rattlers and Massasauga Rattlers here in Ohio tho both are endangered and protected by law. They are very rarely seen.
I used to keep these, Corn snakes, among other snakes and turtles. Corn snakes are beautiful, very docile, and relatively easy to keep.
