I am always intrigued by photographs of the the USA during the 1940's, 1950's and early 1960's, particularly those showing citiy streets. These usually show women and men who, as part of their every day attire, would wear (respectively) dresses and high heels; and dress shoes, dress slacks, a dress shirt, a tie, a sport coat (or a suit) and many times a hat.
I remember my parents dressing so in the 1950's and 1960's, along with the parents of my peers.
Then as the 1960's came to a close and the 1970's arrived that style of daily attire quickly changed.
I remember back in the 50's and early 60's going to town with my mother. There were no big stores in the suburbs. I had to put on dress pants and a white shirt. She wore a dress ,a hat and white gloves. My reward, for going with her, was going to a wonderful ice cream shop after she had finished shopping. Those were the days.

Working on the Zen Garden today. After I build the back rock wall I will make a (second) small beach with natural sea glass filled sand from my wife's second favorite beach. I have already built a small beach from jade filled Big Sur sand.
When this is over.................I'm coming out to spend a weekend with you .........to enjoy life like you do.
I would love to show you the ocean in San Diego. I even have a pedal dive Hobie Kayak you can use. Fish are not guaranteed tho as it is not called catching
EOC, when we were in San Diego, we took that bus tour that also becomes a boat, the seal tour, something like that have you been on that before? It was in the bay, you could see a military base nearby. It was cool.
Here's the Woman on Mars picture taken by rover Spirit on September 5, 2007. You can see it in context in the upper left hand of the picture, and a blow up of it on the right hand side...

That is NOT photoshop, that is NASA. Needless to say, it brought out a lot of the UFO NASA conspiracy nut jobs.

The only silver bar that I own, which I have not been able to locate for 20 years, [I know it is here somewhere], is the San Diego Zoo bar.
I purchased it circa 1972 with money I made selling Sunday newspapers on the street corner..............people used to tip the paper boy nicely back then.............especially when he was standing in the middle of traffic.

EOC quite a downhill slope your neighbor in the picture built on.
Are you on caissons?
I had to google that word.
No, we are not.
I have always lived on super steep hills and love to landscape them.
For this, I built a diversion with a drainage hole so the "beach" will not get mud from above.
This just caught my eye this morning. Had to take its picture.

LMAO, Those silly floating buses are really funny. They bring the tourists out to the bait barge to see the sea lions that cover the barge.
That is the Bay where we catch Halibut.
The military presence in the bay is crazy. So many different types of sea and aircraft all day every day. Super cool to see.
Naval security has kicked me out of my fishing grounds so many times , is unfair as they have machine guns
Edit: My friend just texted me that Naval security just now kicked him off my spot.

Backfilled the sea glass beach with sea glass filled sand from a San Diego beach.
Not done but coming out nicely. I need a lot more sand to extend this beach.
All objects found on the beach except the back rock wall.
