Interesting coin description from an auction catalog

At least it's unique!

Finest certified by a two point margin at the grading services. The number 2 doesn't sound like much, but at this grade level it is similar to the planets; Jupiter is only two planets away from Earth but in miles that's about 390 million. Is this example 390 million times nicer than the runner up? You be the judge, but rest assured the quality here is nothing short of mind boggling.

    Is that 67 to 69 or 8 to 10?

I have found that some auction catalog descriptions are useful. This, however, reads like galactic hyperbole. The writer seems to be mining for a “super nova” when this lot opens for bids.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Is the coin a 1977 cent?

I hope the winning bidder isn't being sucked into a black hole...

I know exactly how this happened.....auction cataloger was up late at night, had just cataloged 100 white Morgans in a row and was getting rather punchy.....it's pretty creative, actually :)

"Look", "Wow", "Monster", "Once in a lifetime opportunity". I wonder what he was selling before this, or writing, soft porn?

Mind boggling description. Who wrote that crap?

Reminds me of when I took a one day cataloging gig for NASCA back in the late 70's and described a bright orange but completely unnatural two cent piece as "possibly treated with Agent Orange". I was not invited back.

Possibly Melnick's Grand Central auction, 11/1983, lot 853. An 1864 Small Motto 2c, MS-60, cataloged as "Harshly cleaned. (Brillo or Agent Orange?) Still scarce and desirable."

If you read my online dating description from back in the day it made this auction description seem pedestrian.

I'd like to see his "CAC" or "QA" type sticker on this. A picture of Jupiter with a +390 on it.

It is admittedly a dark side coin. India Pice in PF67.

In sales I learned a 'confused mind says no'.

I'd add to that 'and sometimes a befuddled mind does get to write copy'.
