PS I'm curious. Why are you buying raw coins?? IMHO, you should be buying coins that are slabbed by our host or one of the other services.
The coins I’ve been posting were acquired years before TPGs. They’ve been in 2x2 flips or 2x2 plastic & stored in my closet until now that I can take pics w/my IPhone.
I think that he the coins he has showing us are pieces he has had for years. That is an impression, not a certainty.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
I too think that the coin is genuine and more than likely high grade. Photos are not that easy to judge.

Define ‘high grade’? I seen 61 at the absolute most and the distinct possibility of a no grade due to the repeating pattern of pockmarks on the neck and field. Those don’t look like bagmarks - they look like damage.

Back in the day all those little BB hits on the cheek and neck would have caused your Morgan to be downgraded.
Used to call this year the Pellican Dollar (for obvious reasons). Enjoy it raw. As usual, I don't recommend sending it into
our host for grading.
I think it's worth a shot at have it graded. As a raw coin, it will never bring much of a price.
Maybe the marks on the neck look bad in person, but I don't see where they are that bad in the photo. I've Mint State graded dollars with big marks on the cheek that were much worse and directly in a focal point of the design. You have to remember when you look at blow-up photo like this that every mark looks bigger.

That’s funny about the pelican dollar...but I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ve read you suggest not to send something (actually anything really that’s eligible) in to our host for express service, uninsured, with no return address...why the change of heart?
A nice Morgan with some distracting hits on the neck and lower cheek... unfortunately, these are areas of focus on Morgan dollars....So if you send it in for grading, do not expect a high grade. Let us know if you do, will be interesting to see the results. Cheers, RickO

Ok as far as authenticity?
ok, meaning problem free
I know it’s authentic.
Other than seeing what it really looks like (I doubt it is orange) it looks great to me.

Is that a die crack above “ STATES”

I saw those marks and thought of a relatively gentle ice pick attack, although I think if it graded it would come back 62. Splitting hairs, really.

Luster 66
Wear 66
Hits 62
Depending on how they define hits to get tha grade is subjective like all grades. I would give it a straight 64.

31 flags did the trick.
that looks nice to me as far as the strike is concerned. jmo
I'd send it to be graded but wouldn't be shocked if it body bagged. Those pin holes are borderline damage.
