Well, RYK, given how you've set a high bar in transactions I have had with you, you'll always be in mine.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

This board and most other boards have several different circles of trust.
The only time it's a problem is when they only interact with each other and
    blow off others.
    I don't see that here and that's a good thing. :)
Probably because this board has a high percentage of real professionals.

Some coins are just plain "Interesting"

Perhaps another thread or two by Longacre is in the offing soon. Please stay tuned.

I for one have missed the updates of the various happenings at the Longacre estate.

I always wanted to add that it was rumoured that he may have had Consuela as well. This, of course, was scurrilous PM trash.

Not sure about The Circle of Trust but at my age I'm definitely in The Circle of Rust. :'(

And I, too, along with a dose or two of the Circle of Crust-iness :D

Still here, still have the ex James Stack cent I got for you in 2009. IIRC, you sent it before you received payment. Good to see you again but I think I've seen you on twitter occasionally too.

CharlotteDude, I still have the 1795 $1 I got from you too.

Great idea BAJJERFAN! I'm posting here and haven't posted in about that long. Saddened by the members lost in my absence, but great to see everyone that's still here!

Just like Robert Dinero in the movie "Meet the Parents", the CU forum has a "circle of trust". After having conversations, experiences, and transactions with fellow members, you enter the circle. LucyBop has been criticized by one member in another short thread, and the forum rallied around her, as she is well-known and established here (and elsewhere), clearly beyond reproach. She is firmly planted in the circle. On the other hand, WingedLiberty, who was previously in the circle, was kicked out of the circle for non-payment for coins to various members. He previously enjoyed the privilege of being in the "circle".

I had an interesting recent experience as a buyer for my type set. A newbie seller (fewer than 100 posts here) was offering a coin that I wanted. It was for $50. He does not know me, and I do not know him. He told me that if I paid by check, the check would be held until it cleared. It cracked me up because, perhaps mistakenly, I consider myself to be in the "circle", and he is outside the circle. I felt like saying, "You are new here. I am in the "circle". I will send you a check if you deliver the coin." Alas, for a $50 transaction, I do not care that much, and I am happy to help bring a newbie member into the forum fold.

P.S. I regularly ship coins under $100 to forum members before their funds are received, let alone checks cleared, etc. But only those in the "circle".

Edit in 2009 for spelling error.

Rober De Niro.............huh. RYK do you realize what you can't get for $50 anymore? Oh, Lord don't get me started. You can't get two (2) tires plugged for $50, you can't get a subscription to the Grey Sheet for $50. I used to get penny candy now, it's dollar candy, You can't get a bag o glass for $50 Ohhh the Horror, the horror.

Great to see you, RYK. And Longacre, too!

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
