Has PCGS changed its grading standards?
With all of these new, never before seen grades coming out of PCGS of late, I have to wonder.... 1) Has PCGS changed (a.k.a. lowered) its standards for assigning grades? Will we start to see even more of these once unheard of grades? Will the coveted PCGS PR70DCAM again begin showing up? -OR- 2) Are collectors / dealers… -

Gradeflation has occurred in the lower grades too!
I've observed big changes in the F-15 to VF-20 range too. In the good old days, a Very Fine was a sharply detailed coin, often with obvious original luster. I just caught myself trying to grade a pleasing gray, no problem, Fine Seated coin VF-20! Take a look at what the Fine and VF Seated halves and quarters look like on… -
This has got to be the best Franklin Grade Ever - NOT!

In our last episode, COINB0Y ignorantly (not that it mattered, now) submitted to PCGS a 1963 Franklin Proof in a PVC sleeve. The victim was purchased on the ‘fine advice’ and urging of a local 87 year old, Coin dealer who shall go un-named. Received the Body Bag today and I have taken autopsy Photos. Edited in 3 minutes… -
