Milk spots on SAE Registry Set
A couple of weeks ago I got out my MS69 SAE registry set and to my horror I discovered that 8 of the 20 SAE's have developed milk spots. They have all turned in the slab. The spots are quite distracting and detract horribly from the eye appeal of the coins. Do I have any recourse other than buying replacements? This is… -

When are ASE's no longer prone to milk spotting?
Ok, so we know that the ASE is prone to milk spotting, and it appears that the 2006 20th anniversary coins are also starting to show this. Is there an amount of time that a coin can be in a slab, that it can be assumed that spotting will not occur if it has not yet shown up? Or... can it show up at any time, say after 10… -

"Milk Spots" are a form of corrosion. There is no way to reverse the process. Re-polishing the spot areas on the coin will cause more harm than good, usually. I believe the spots are "horn silver" (silver chloride). There are chemical procedures to convert silver chloride back into pure silver. But none of those methods… -
