Milk spots on SAE Registry Set

CoinHuskerCoinHusker Posts: 5,033 ✭✭✭
A couple of weeks ago I got out my MS69 SAE registry set and to my horror I discovered that 8 of the 20 SAE's have developed milk spots. They have all turned in the slab. The spots are quite distracting and detract horribly from the eye appeal of the coins.

Do I have any recourse other than buying replacements? This is terribly disappointing.

There is a big problem with white spots on silver eagles. We have been spending money with some scientists trying to figure out what causes the spots, how they develop, and if they can be removed. We believe it may be something that happens at the mint. Spots on mint sttate silver eagles never come off. Spots on proof silver eagles sometimes come off.

If you have spotted eagles send them in and we'll take care of you under the terms of our grading guarantee.

    Thanks,

    David
