Registry weights
Hello all, Would someone please expalin to me how the registry point value of Lincoln cents works? I read the PCGS info but it's a bit confusing. For example exactly how does a person determine if it's better for their set to have a particular coin in 64 RD or 65 RB. I apologize for asking a question that probably everyone… -
Help!! Explanation of how set registry weighting works.
I posted a thread on here about advice on set building and there were 70 responses. To all those who lent their advice THANKS. I am new to the graded aspect of collecting, so could someone please PLAINLY explain how the grading works as far as the weighting of the cards versus the completion percentage. Thanks in advance.… -
Re: Who does the weighting on the Registry sets?
I do all the weighting and actually spend quite a bit of time on it. I enjoy doing the weighting and other Set Registry tasks. I do get input from a lot of collectors and would appreciate any of your thoughts. As we move into the more specialized areas more experts will become involved. Copper expert and PCGS founder… -

Set Registry Weighting for PD's
Over the years I have purchased a few PSA 9 PD's of cards that I could not otherwise afford in a straight 9. I'm one of those guys who's most concerned about corners and centering. Anyway, a PSA 9 PD is the equivalent of a PSA 7 for set registry purposes, and I think this is flawed. Each of my PSA 9 PD's cost MORE than a… -
Re: How is the Set Rating figured?
In the PCGS Set Registry, the GPA (Grade Point Average) is the numerical average of the coin grades in your set. The GPA with Top Pop Bonuses takes this a step further by factoring in extra bonus points for owning the finest-known (or tied for finest-known) coins for a specific date and mintmark. How the Bonus Points Work… -
What carries more weight when it comes to either high grade PR or high grade MS? Registry Type Set
Does anyone know what carries more weight when it comes to either high grade proofs or high grade mint state? is it just the higher grade? Do high grade proofs make more of an impact on your set if they are a higher grade than the high grade mint state examples? Do Cameo designations make a difference in the set? MS67FBL… -
Re: The PCGS Morgan Dollar Registry Weightings Are a Joke
Yes - the PCGS weighting system is an approximation that really only works for a set completed at the most collectable grade (because that's where the weights are set). But they aren't going to change it. Yes - the PCGS Set Registry number one sets in most cases are not the finest sets in existance because an awful lot of… -
when do you think these registry sets will get weighted?

Suggested weighting of the Lincoln Memorial Basic registry set 1959-2005
This weighting takes into account, for the most part, rarity in the mainstream collector grades (ms66rd for 1959-1981 and ms67rd for 1982-2005), but the rarity one grade higher also plays a small part. Rarity is not only determined by populations (and prices realized), but also the availability of quality orginal rolls of…
