Re: Any good deals lately
I did pick up a nice Scott 94 with a double grill with one split. The good deal is that it had a Feb 2009 PSE certificate. The good deal is that I paid $39 including shipping. To put this into prospective, the cert was $27. If I had sent it in I would have had shipping both ways and that would have been at least another… -
Re: Not Holdered, Miscut question
This happened to me on a 1974 OPC Nolan Ryan Strikeout Leaders card, on one edge the card had a slight appendage that extended about 1/8" out from the card and was 1/4" long. Was kind of curious at the time why it wasn't holdered with a MC qualifier, but it probably wouldn't have fit in a holder because of the defect. What… -

Re: CON40, I think you can answer this...
Hi Jon, Well, welcome to the Ryan collecting family!! Ryan's after 1990 become hard to find, if you don't submit your own, because most dealers won't waste their time and money. You should be able to find an ample supply of PSA 10's from the years 1980-1990 with the toughest being the Topps issues from 1980 & 1981, Score… -
Re: When are people updating thier registry sets.
I would guess at today's prices and depending on how you apportion your dollars [no pun intended ] among the keys and better dates probly $70K on up. If I could get the 79-CC 93-CC and 95-S in 63/64 and the 86-O, 93-O, 94-O, 96-O and 97-O in 62/63 I could move up some for sure but those 8 coins would probly do smoe serious… -
Re: Auction Sniper
Ryan, Once you get past the free snipes, it gets old real quick having another fee attached to your auction wins, especially a percentage based one. Also 10-15% of the time their snipes don't go through, for me, on bids that would have been higher than the winning bid. Won't use them anymore, I do my own snipes now and win… -
Re: A Body-bagged Barber that I will continue to love
I have this 1896-O in an ANACS AU 55 Details - Cleaned which looks really nice...IMHO; the previous owner submitted it to PCGS and they Body-Bagged it. It rests comfortably in the Dansco album near another Body Bagged coin - an 1894-S - which is an AU 58 - but was described as Questionable Color. [ Sorry, no images of the… -
Re: Early Long Beach Report (Warning, this is not an upbeat report)
On the contrary to Bear's experience mine was better than expected. Except for a few PQ coins I decided to keep and some Hallmark slab CC Morgans, I was able to sell everything that I wanted and gross as much as the Bear. Additionally, not only did I not lose any $$ but made more than I had projected. Of course collectible…
