The "bad breath is better than no breath at all" note

Behold my McFarland CA large size. Wretched, horrific, abomination, whatever you fancy. 3 large known, 0 appearances in 20+ years. Only $390 outstanding. Very rare. Like Delano in Kern County, McFarland had a small population of less than 700 when this was issued in 1913. The note was found with a small group of CA… -
Ancient Pickups

I had an opportunity to upgrade my owl selecting from a handful of pieces. Unlike modern coinage, ancients are all about trade-offs - eye appeal, centering, strike, surface, style. I tried to balance all and am very pleased with this super-high-relief piece which doesn't show the magnitude in the image. The Thracian piece… -
Re: **Fraud Alert: Counterfeit '74 fb wax box coming out of Harrisburg, PA with new seller ID!
<< <i> The ID was "tarheels17032" and the man, a Randy Howard operating out of a post office box in suburban Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, put up for bid a "box" of vintage 1971 O-Pee-Chee baseball cards (the Canadian version of Topps). >> The seller ID's may be new, but the resealers sure aren't. Howard was booted off eBay… -
Westfalen Inflation Period Tokens

As a secondary interest, I collect the Westfalen inflation tokens by the Frenzel catalogue. I've always really liked this set and finally decided to spend a little money (equal to maybe 1 good national banknote) to put together a representative set in hgh grade. At any rate, the 10,000 Mk and 50 Million Mk come with two… -
NEWP: Seleucid Kingdom. Antiochus IX Philopator Tetradrachm

Just arrived today and is definitely one of the more appealing coins I own - large flan, super strike, sharp details, clean surface and near perfect centering. In particular, I like the Nike design on the reverse similar to the reverse on the Alexander also posted below. Seleucid Kingdom. Antiochus IX Philopator.114/3-95… -

Re: What series are you "into" right now?
Always, business strike toned Franklins. Haven't found an upgrade in essentially years. 1940 - 1964 toned Washingtons, predominantly in MS66. 1893 proofs (no gold) in ~PR65Cameo. Still need 1c and 25c, and wouldn't mind upgrading 50c from PR64Cameo to PR65Cameo. 1858 business strike (for the most part no gold). Grades vary… -
Re: Why is this forum so Dead ?
Politely disagree as I have been here since 2003. There were some contributors with very bad behaviour that caused problems here and now they have moved on to the PMF where, surprisingly, more personal attacks and bad behaviour have been permitted and proliferated. There was a PMF gang-bang against a member there and… -

From the Q & A on the Ebay listing- This just keeps getting better and better!
