Re: Has anyone here scaled Mt. Everest?
I've not climbed anything higher than a flight of stairs. My brother-in-law was quite the mountaineer though. Rainer took him in 2010. https://www.google.com/amp/www.spokesman.com/stories/2010/jul/28/climber-dies-fall-mount-rainier/?amp-content=amp He went doing what he loved. Managed to save 3 on his rope team by… -
Re: what causes cartwheel on some coins and not others?
<< <i>Correct me if I am wrong on this. Its my understanding that the Cart Wheel effect gets a little better as the Die is used longer. True or False ? >> True to a point. Brand new dies that produce dmpl surfaces do not produce good luster. As the die starts to wear slightly it both develops its own flowlines and imparts… -

Re: Esoteric Guess the Grade Thread...
Nope. That is false logic which would make all coin grading meaningless. Repeat - If one is consistent, then "wear/abrasion" is the primary attribute of "grade." Detail of design in the dies or a struck coin is irrelevant. These territorial issues are exceptions to honest, consistent grading because of their huge emotional… -

The other asks, “What happened the last 3 times?” The guy says, “They all died.” The other says, “Wow, how did they die?” The guy says, “Well, the 1st one died from… -
Re: 1922 "no D" cents
Ok for those of you that dont know the story behind the 1922 no D lincoln cent it goes like this. These are the result of poor planning on the part of the mint. On Febuary 26 the Denver mint ran out of usable dies with about 500,000 more lincoln cents still to strike. The Philadelphia mint was contacted and asked when new… -
Re: How can you tell a REAL 1943 COPPER lincoln? Auction over at $1310.99
Some 1943 copper cents are created by taking 1948 cents and tooling the final digit of the date. Also, since the 1943 cents were made of steel, some counterfeiters have used them as hubs to create false dies to strike fakes using unstruck cent planchets. A coin such as this definately needs professional authentication.
