Re: RIP George Herbert Walker Bush, 41st President of the United States
Collectors Note: Recently I purchased a set of eight uniface medals, mounted on a board, that illustrate the medal making process. Unlike coins, which are almost always produced with one blow from the dies, medals usually require multiple strikes to bring up the design. The reasons are that these pieces are usually larger,… -

Re: How Reliable is Walter Breen's info?
<< <i>I have never heard people who knew Walter to say he "made things up". >> I knew Walter Breen. Since his death, I think I've studied his life and his work as much as anyone around. He made things up. Walter's book is an enormous feat. Unlike most researchers, his curiosity about American coinage knew no bounds -- he… -
Re: What coin is this?
Yes, the Arabic numeral "6" does resemble the Western numeral "7", while Arabic numerals "1" and "9" look essentially the same as their Western counterparts. So a date that resembled "1979" written in Arabic would equate to "1969". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Arabic_numerals Learners of foreign languages call… -
