Re: KM number lookup request
Krause has a really moronic treatment of these in the 2009 book. For one thing, they're not consistent with calling the map side obv or rev. But for 07 there was the standard issue with the new map (KM 258), the Treaty of Rome commem (KM 259) and this: << <i>Obv: Large value at left, modified outline of Europe at right… -
Re: How do you balance the desire to collect with the money to float your mania?
I started collecting coins in 2001 and have a nice collection (at least to me), I still have my baseball card collection from the late 80's-2000 which I collected starting when I was young, I also still have my Magic card collection from the same time period..... Have not sold anything..... Probably should and use the cash… -
Re: Forget the ethics! Let's play dirty.
I once bought an error coin from a collector for $200. I sent it in and had it graded then placed it into inventory for $260. It sat in inventory for 2 months so I put it on Ebay. It brought $4000 plus S&H on ebay, and the buyer was very happy about it. The next week I was able to contact the guy I purchased the coin from… -
Re: 4 Sharp Corners certainly gets the grades......
I wholesale my stuff to a few raw card dealers and even they get 9's and 10's. I just got back a 260 card submission and I spent quite awhile on these. Mostly 73-76. Mostly 9's with 6-10's and a dozen or so 8's. I'm actually disappointed, not a real good submission, I need to get 10-15 10's to get my grading fee back and… -

Re: How did I just get outbid by split bids at Heritage?
Many folks will place there max bid well above the current bid at an odd number to create a bid/cutoff point. IE the bidding early starts out at $260 and a bidder thinks the final bid may be $450 or $500. To insure they get the best shot at the item they place a bid of $512 or such. The online pre-auction bidding allows… -
Re: Looney Lincolns - 1953-D MS67RD
I've got a 35(s) Lincoln on ebay right now for $275 in MS66RD. The coin sells for close to $50 in MS65RD and roughly $15,000 in MS67RD. One of the things I would also like to point out is as much as some folks might not like the "play" of the MS67RD coin at $15,000 (INCLUDING ME!!!!) - IMHO, YOU'VE GOT TO LOVE THE MS66RD…
