saw the post about the stolen bar in Baltimore ...how interesting that the story came out that Australian Bullion Dealer ABC Bullion has contacted SD to advise that one of its suppliers has provided them photographic evidence of a tungsten filled 1 kilo gold bar discovered this week. The bar passed a hand-held xrf scan which showed 99.98% pure AU. The tungsten was only discovered when the bar was physically cut in half.
After numerous reports of 400oz tungsten filled bars being discovered in Hong Kong, this is the first documented and verified report with photographic evidence that has been made public.
Another interesting story is that a few years ago the gold in Fort Knox was switched with these same kind of bars..... stay tuned..

I have heard about the silver plated steel bars that are now cropping up at flea markets as "silver bars." It's interesting to note that the scam has hit the gold market as well.

Are these in imitation of brand name bars or are these a new design? Do they actually have the proper weigh?
