Do you have a dedicated room for your wares?

I would like to see it? I have a 4 bedroom house, 2 stories and one of the extra bedrooms is dang near the size of the master. I already have a home office in one, another has a hospital bed and is basically set up as a ER room for when I was WIA the last 3 times, I just went ahead and spent the coin to recoup in my own house. So I have a 4th room, about 17'x17' that has a connected full size bathroom that is a currently a guest bedroom, but alas I have no friends and too much stuff so my wife finally said to take it over! She is sick of seeing steroscopes in the kitchen island, boxes of nickels under the stairwell and red 2x2 row boxes on "our" nightstand (though we all know the garage and whatever is broken is the only things we have).
So I get 17'x17' of whatever I want and I am pumped. I collect coins and currency, but other things too. If you know me well you know the cool stuff I buy. So my basic idea is a large computer desk for the coins and scopes. Couch and 55" plasma, mini-fridge with beer and popcorn maker. Uncut sheets of red seal $2's and 76 $2's, lots, some colonial coins and counterfeits framed. Lots of coin/numismatic stuff, old tin gun posters, my flag collection, beer neons (yeah, I am that trashy), pictures of myself and unit in Afg. and Iraq, plus more and more junk.
What would you do? Put up?

This is not my house, it is one of my customers houses. I asked him if I could take the pictures.
If you look closely in the first picture you will see a picture by the alligator. That is a picture of
him when he was on larry king. Sorry cant reveal who the customer is.

Understandable as that would be a lot for her to dust!

The biggest mistake i made was building my garage attached to the house with 8 foot ceilings. 10 foot would be better and detached even more. The local tax authority charges off garages at 40 bucks a sq. foot so my little man cave adds about 1200 a year to the property tax bill where a barn is just pennies
I would try to post a few pics but i do not what to hear about why i have a lot of my stuff in the open and laying around instead instead of locked at the SDB or locked down. I do not live in a subdivision.
On the plus side i have 2 Mi carbines tied together with a crank system on a tri pod sitting on the coffee table and she really has not even made a comment on it. Every time i buy a gun or coin i go ahead and pick her out one too just to show her how much i care.
A WIA hospital room at home sounds..... Hopefully you don;t get disturbed every hour on the hour by nurses needing a blood sample etc. As long as the morphine drip flows....

I have this "thing" about saving and reusing boxes that I get things in the mail so it's only a matter of time until I find the box that feels "right". I still have boxes in use that came to me in the 1990s. I keep them as long as they keep their structural stability. Edit to add: I can actually accuratly judge a box's structural stability by brand/feel.

Here is F.C.C. Boyd in the attic of his home, dedicated to his collection. Can you imagine what is in that attic?

Don't laugh...the dog loves to lay [and sleep] right in front of the safe...and daddy didn't even teach him that trick!
Good Boy!
<< <i>I have it everywhere although it is suppose to be in my upstairs office. I have a large gun safe in the living room for the moment, if she could move it, it would be gone. I have not been brave enough to tell i have another safe coming in a few days. I predict she is going to blow a gasket when it shows up. q]
Why do I get the strange feeling the one on the way will be almost walk in size.

nice man caves and coin rooms in this post.Right now the closet is stuffed with boxes of ATBs,silver proof sets, and odds and ends. The wife says when we move to a bigger house I will get my "hobby" room.I expect that it will look alot like guitarwes's with room for my gibson,my rickenbacker, and my fenders with a coin desk and filing cabinet.

Your oil painting of Goats explains a lot!
The wife is afraid to come in this room!!
Seeing what happened to the other critters that strayed into the room, I can't say I blame her!

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

HA HA! by the way that is a nice painting, I would know.
I would grab the space before she changes her mind and get moving. Make it a place you can relax and enjoy. Don't worry about the neon beer signs - I put my last one in the basement and still really like it. Basement is kind of nautical, so it's a flashing light in a lighthouse - even the wife grudgingly likes it.
Probably best to leave the beer in the kitchen - you need to get up and move around once in a while.
About that other man cave that was posted - no wonder there are so many endangered species!

great thread, really funny
I need ideas on installing a false door or something similar to hide a walk in closet.
