What was the oldest coin you found in circulation in the last week?

I found a 1947 nickel in change.

So far the oldest I can ever remember finding was a 1910 cent, which was in pretty good shape (maybe G/VG) which I gave to my daughter

Oh, in the last week ... crap, nothing good this week ... probably a 64 Jefferson in there (they're everywhere!)

Nothing recent, the oldest coins I've found in circulation were an IHC from the 1880s and a 1892 Love Token barber quarter. The obverse is easily MS, the reverse...PMD.

Also found a 1897 V Nickel.

I used to post the finds as they came but I switched jobs and now I don't handle $8k a day.

I am sure this is numismatic blasphemy and will be met with ridicule and disdain, but it is my understanding that the first step is to quit denying it...so here goes:

*stands up*

Phew, glad that's off of my chest. Throw your stones.

I do, however, dump my coins in an old-timey 5 gallon glass milk jar. Perhaps if one day my son will go through it when he gets old.

1915-S Lincoln cent, found in about $30 worth of bank rolls I searched... so not sure if searching bank rolls counts, but I was happy to find it! It was the oldest coin I have ever "found".

Best I can say is a 1899 cent or a ND buffalo. Quite a few silver mercs and washington quarters. Im thinking I might have pulled a 1860s cent too at one point I dont recall the exact year. i think a 1865,

I have been charge only spending in the past week, but I did pick up a couple of boxes of half dollars Thursday.

So, I guess a 1971 is it for me

(no silver in the first box

)

I did pull a 2006 and a 1987 proof half dollar from the box though.

Never really been lucky finding stuff in change. Found an 1912 Barber dime once and an 1863 CWT in a roll of cents once. These were both before 1975.

I was dusting off the 4 Allstate cases I have that
were buried in the corner of my shed and the last
one had some old junk in it from the swap meet
and I found an old Check I accepted from some
one, for 8 bucks, dated 1988, does that count

Oldest in years gone by a 1919 cent
In the last year a 1941 Silver Half

I should mention that a couple of years ago I put
a 1928 SLQ,
a 1928 Mercury dime, and
three 1928 buffaloes
I had as a kid in the collection plate. All were AG condition, and Yes I was that broke!

I know it's not really in line with the post, but 2 weeks ago I got a 1963 $5 bill in change. Bill was in great shape. I don't collect paper but I thought it was cool, and other than the occasional 1950's wheat cent I've never gotten a cool coin in change.
